Thought that was a meteor that was heading towards my back garden then, turns out it was Charlie Adam's penalty.

It wasn't, must have been something else. NASA have just released a statement citing that the ISS is having to prepare emergency maneouvres as the ball is heading directly for it!

:) such a good day. Sheffield wednesday 1 sheffield united 0
That (combined with the results I posted yesterday) reminds me that Lloyd Owusu, who became an Owls legend when he scored within sixty seconds on his debut to put them 1-0 up in a 2002 derby, has returned to his first club, Slough Town.
You may recall that I've mentioned in the past that I did some Football In The Community coaching with Slough, when Brian McDermott was their FITC officer. Lloyd used to help us out when he was a Youth Team player, so I've always followed his career.
He got the Rebels goal yesterday, too!

I have put some pictures of the recent game for Darlo v York on my FLickr. I joined the prawn sandwhich brigade for the day as my firends and I decided to help the club out a bit more.

The shre slaes are going well and it looks like something in the region of £25,000 was taken in cash sales over the weekends. The total (minus the cash sales) is £285,000 which is great but we still have a long way to go. 38% of the total has been raised

Footballer Mark McCammon launches race discrimination claim

A black footballer is bringing a claim for race discrimination against a football club.

Mark McCammon, 33, claims he and other black players at Gillingham Football Club were treated differently from white players.

The player said: "I'm hopeful that truth will prevail but I can't comment any further at this stage."

A spokesman for Gillingham said: "The allegations made by Mark McCammon are wholly rejected by the club."

"It would not be appropriate for the club to comment further until the employment tribunal hearing has taken place."

Mr McCammon is bringing a claim for race discrimination and unfair dismissal against his former club and its chairman, Paul Scally.

The Barbados international forward, who is currently with Conference team Braintree Town, signed a three-year contract with League Two club Gillingham in 2008 and was released three seasons later.

The case is expected to be heard at an employment tribunal in Ashford this summer.

This would be very hard to prove. But if he wins, what happens to Gillingham - and football in general?

I looked at the Conference Premiership league table to see how this weekends dramatic results had affected the top two clubs. I was surprised to see how badly the points deduction had affected Darlington, as with 12 matches left to play, they are only one point clear of Hayes and Yeading (who are next to the bottom) and who have a game in hand of Darlington, but Darlington are ten points clear of the bottom club, Bath City, on level games played.

It is worse than that in that we havent won in 8 or 9 and are playing kids due to the transfer embargo for going into administration. The players are exhausted BUT we had this weekend off so you never know! However we are in very real danger of being relegated.

We lost 3-1 at Alfreton last weekend which was a really big blow. To make matters worse we have games against Luton and Wrexham and a couple of other top sides coming up. It will be VERY difficult for us to avoid relegation.

That's unbelievable, Is it me or is the racism thing getting out of hand now?

He was on a 3 year contract and was released 3 years later, presumably by his contract not being renewed. So how is that unfair dismissal? There may be mitigating circumstances to it but if that is just the case then in theory he should have very little to stand on.

It's like this new rule that they are proposing to have one "minority" management candidate on the shortlist for a managers job, while I agree that there are not enough managers in football in general from a "minority" background I think people should be employed for their abilities and not the colour of their skin (or to even out the statistics).

The problem is that this happens in the real world too, at our place we have a guy who the word "useless" does not do enough justice and despite him causing so much trouble he has never been disciplined as he always plays the race card. There are countless people looking for work and we have to keep this guy who can not do a damn thing right because the company does not want any negative publicity nor legal cases.

As for what this could mean to football in general, well it means all clubs will be vulnerable to any claims from any player, perhaps even being able to claim should a player not get signed...

Equality is one thing but we could be heading towards a similar situation to the "accident claim" culture we are still suffering from.

Back to football...

A good result for Sheffield Wednesday yesterday & Norwich were very unlucky to loose to the typical united score in injury time...

Injury time or Fergie time? I didn't follow the game so unsure if the amount of injury time was reasonable

A mate of mine went to two of those games today. He didn't exactly enjoy either !!

I was at the Slough Town game, (couldn't make Middlesbrough v my main team Reading for other reasons) - Lloyd did okay although the result leaves Slough dropping away from St Neots in the race for the automatic promo spot, so it may have to be the play-offs again!

EM2, you a Slough Town boy then? Any others on here?

I was, lived there for a few years and started watching in the days of Mark West. Helped out with the FITC, the cub shop, went to away games as well and still got to a few games after I moved away (Cardiff at home and Crawley away in the FA Cup, ).
Always keep an eye on the results, and sad to see Wexham Park in such a state :(

Excellent work sir! I only go very occasionally when there's a game nearby to MK and Reading aren't playing away, but it's good to see the level of passion that fans and players have compared to the TV prima donnas in the Prem et al. Sexual may be history, but plans are being announced this week forth new ground in Arbour Vale, so huge leaps forward being made finally.

yes but we need three other teams to finish below us. I think it is 3 from 4 or 5 (including us)

Hopefully the ten point deduction will be enough to take your lot down. Nothing personal, but them's the rules, 21 other clubs have "played by the rules" so if your lot are relegated, then so be it.

Plus you can play us next year then ;)

If Aston Villa were not in trouble before the weekend, they certainly are now!

Robbie Keane's loan spell has finished, and Darren Bent is out for 3 months with ruptured ankle ligaments.

Unfortunately, this leaves the burden of scoring goals on Emile Heskey's shoulders!

The very best of British luck to Aston Villa and their supporters, your going to need it!

I don't know if XC would approve but perhaps the solution would be to sign Fernando Torres on loan for the rest of the season - a fresh start and less pressure may be the catalyst for him to start scoring again.:p

Kettering could be docked 3 points today for failing to pay thier palyers. The deadline expires today.

If things are looking bad for Darlo they look much worse for Kettering. On a selfish note a three point deduction would help us but i dont want to see any team in trouble.

West Ham did actually try to get Torres in January.

Were Crawley unwilling to sell ;)

I am concerned about our plight though, we need Gabby to come through, especially given our run in and not getting three points off Wigan is lame. We'll only be staying up if three of the four below us cock up.

A (usually reliable) FB page has informed the world that there were just seven Dagenham & Redbridge fans at Morecambe tonight! Can anyone confirm or deny that?

In other news, Gillingham came from 4-2 down in the 81st minute to beat Hereford United 5-4.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
... Some are now claiming it to be 39 or 66 :|

Dunno about that but there were only 83 at the game I was at tonight. Thats not away fans thats the whole crowd !!
Marlow - Woodford United if anyone is interested. And its a belter of a ground.

On the subject of Villa. We are even more doomed now than we was a few weeks ago. 3 big games coming up now. Blackburn away then Fulham and Bolton at home. We should get at least 6 points from them but if I am honest right now I would be happy with 3. Cheers mcleish you are really doing a number on us good and proper. Any of the mcleish apologists on here want to come and tell me he is a good manager anymore. When the away support at a club turn on you then you know the game is up. On Saturday at Wigan 4000 Villa fans belted out "sack mcleish my lord sack mcleish" The writing is on the wall ginger bollocks time to get the f*** out of my club
