Hi Saltleyman, I was wondering if you knew a fireman at Saltley called John Bloore. I believe that he was a fireman in the 1960s with his father Basil Bloore who was a driver. I think John was transferred from Saltley to the north of Scotland to work on the Far North Line. A scotrail driver told me that John Bloore passed away on new years eve in 1999 which would have been 14 years today.
    Hi Brian
I certainly remember you sir, last time I saw you you were the "gaffer" at Cambridge in 1991, when we were route learning the road for the Stansteds with the new 158 dmu's.
Hope you are keeping well ? Nice to hear from you.
I decided to take early retirement in 2006, I'd had enough of the so called "railway" that we now have !
You might be interested in another site www.railchat.co.uk in the Train drivers section you will see a Saltley Thread which has a number of ex Saltley men contributing to it.
    Hope you receive this Message.
    Regards
    Brian Hammonds

    Hello.

My dad is no 83 and retired from Saltley Depot in Birmingham. Orginally a fireman he became a roster clerk until her retired in the 80's. I am trying to put him in touch with other railway men.

Are you able to help. In all honesty he has become quite cut off whilst caring for his wife who has dementure.

    Kind regards Isabel Aston.
    Brian,

Thanks for the link, I did come across it about a week or two back when I was looking for all or any information on signalling on my patch.

Your help was much appreciated though.

Anyway, just want to ask you if you could ask OT and the others on how would you fancy a meetup in the first week or two of December for a few christmas drinks?

    Alex
