Hi kelv I work for Colas on the otm's these companies as you rightly stated will only take people with an apprenticeship or they have their own psychometric for train driving and obviously people who are already drivers.Swietelsky Babcock as far as I am aware are a good company to work for I know they have tampers and afm's not sure about grinders and I think their t&c's are better where as Colas have tampers regulators grinders etc.I can't see any problems with the skills you have we have car mechanics to raf technicians you could easily join as a fitter then get trained to operate and then eventually do your psychometric test if that's how swietelsky Babcock do their training any more info drop us a line.
