One thing I really hope does stay is LNER.co.uk/reserve. The easiest way, ok possibly second only to XC's TMR text service, to reserve a seat on a train with short notice by far. Obviously the mandatory reservation policy that accompanies it needs to go, sharpish.

Apart from the fact that there's a large Council run car park off Sheffield Street (round the corner from the entrance to the official station car park for those who don't know) for £3.80 per 24 hours. It was £3.50 for a good few years. The station car park drops to £7 at weekends for the record.

It's a Covid thing. GWR do not enforce it though, unlike LNER.

Warrington definitely take contactless on the CAT branded routes, don't think they do on anything else though. It's very poor really, though they do have an app that sells day tickets-at least.

I got tailgated onto the tube at Tottenham Hale by someone last March, he'd arrived on the GA service like me and gave the gate line staff a sob story. They couldn't do anything but let him out. I'd clocked him hanging around by the wide gate but as I had luggage there was nothing I could do...

Evidently the deadly killer virus only affects Anglo-Scottish passengers drinking alcohol whilst using LNER and Caledonian Sleeper seats. Those using Avanti, CrossCountry, TPE, BA, (presumably Easyjet and Loganair) or indeed Cally Sleeper rooms are evidently unaffected.

No alcohol in the seats?? I was thinking of booking a few trips, glad I saw that. What nonsensical gentlemen's vegetables is that?? Presumably I would be allowed to sit and drink soft drinks and eat all night, so what difference would it make assuming you stayed seated?

Forgot about those. GTRs Gatwick Express branded trains announce in several languages onboard too when working a GX service.

It was indeed. I remember it well, it was my birthday and I was working nights. The last passenger arrived at my station at around 04:30 who had been on the affected service. A truly horrendous night for all concerned.
