    CAF Civity for TfW

And as previously stated, the toilet being out of service is the default state on the 195/331 units. No reason to suppose these will be any different.

    CAF Civity for TfW

Isn't the poor ride quality by design? I heard some wibble at some point which suggested that the ride quality was rough to ensure a good wheel/ rail connection, in order to save money by not having TCA (track circuit actuator) equipment fitted to the units. I am not pronouncing this : merely...

    CAF Civity for TfW

Amazingly, and sadly, more than a few passengers have expressed to me the view that the new class 195 stock, if you shut your eyes and just listen and feel, is remarkably similar to a pacer. Especially when it's raining . The North, and Wales, deserves better than this.

    CAF Civity for TfW

This is just a general observation, from someone who spends a deal of time working 195/331 units. It's my own opinion, although many share it. (Some obviously don't). The build quality, reliability and ride quality leave a lot to be desired. The ride is particularly rough, and varies widely...

    Northern Class 331: Construction/Introduction Updates

That's fair enough fella, we have different experiences : those episodes you describe tend to be what I experience with the 331 units unfortunately.

    Northern Class 331: Construction/Introduction Updates

The 32x series are even now more reliable than the 333/331 units. They are old, but I would rather work them in multiple than the 331's. In theory, 331 in multiple should be fine. However, the quality of the build, and the complexity / failure rate of the systems, (not just door systems)...

    Northern Class 331: Construction/Introduction Updates

From a train crew point of view, the ASDO is so unreliable, as are the units themselves, that the idea of 6 car with SDO on the NW triangle in the rush hour is fear inducing more than anything else. Hopefully solutions will be found.

    Confiscated Railcard

Hi. It's the helpful guard here. (Thanks for the compliment by the way, that was certainly an interesting journey!) . At this point, I would advise for the delay claim just to send in the zero fare ticket(making a copy for yourself to keep). If, (and it's unlikely), they would like any further...

Fixed penalty fare - when I could have shown my ticket on a laptop

The scan reveals ticket type, price, origin and destination. Price paid. Time of purchase (in a penalty fare area, a penalty fare can be issued if ticket purchased after boarding). Any railcard or other discount. Any booked trains (e.g. advance ticket). Ticket number, which is unique, and...

    gWr morning peak times

Neither the peak or the off peak fare then for that journey is over the £12 minimum fare before 10am. Therefore, railcard discounted ticket invalid before 10am for that journey. Hope that explains what happened.

    gWr morning peak times

Surely railcard discounts have a minimum fare before 10 am and are not affected by peak /off peak restrictions?

    Multi TOC Smart-card

I think that sometimes there is a trade off between rule and actual experience. Whilst via wakefield may perhaps be the only permitted route I know I would certainly allow via Leeds on my train. I would advise against leaving Leeds station as this may be the point at which the lack of validity...

    Multi TOC Smart-card

Interestingly, a little digging on national rail enquiries shows that for journeys sandal to Barnsley, multiple tickets are required for routes changing at Doncaster, Sheffield, meadowhall and Leeds. This would suggest that the only permitted route is that via wakefield westgate and kirkgate...

    Multi TOC Smart-card

Based on what I see on a day to day basis, any season can be loaded into any smart card at any smart enabled tvm. I have come across one "customer" who was having difficulty, incidentally on the leeds Doncaster route, but further investigation revealed she had claimed a refund on the season...

Sorry - Another Northern Rail court summons

Came across this earlier. I don't pretend to know anything about it, but someone with better knowledge might be able to shed light on wether it's relevant. It's from the railway penalty fares regulations 2018 from the .Gov website.

Sorry - Another Northern Rail court summons

There is a ticket machine at bramley. It is at the entrance to the leeds bound platform and is hard to miss. Promise to pay tickets are available from the machine for those who require to purchase their ticket with cash. The station is in the penalty fare zone.

    Northern Smart Ticket

If you do buy your smart season ticket online, please remember that you have to either load it on to the card at a northern tvm, or by use of the NFC reader on an android phone. Buying a season but failing to load it onto the card is treated as travelling without a valid ticket. An email...

Staff rejecting tickets because the journey has commenced

I can't actually tell from the screenshots if it is a m- ticket (colour bar) or e- ticket (white pdf style). When I check revenue, the same initial screen seems to result in either when opened. If anyone knows how to tell from the screenshots can they share that info? And yorkie, I agree...

Staff rejecting tickets because the journey has commenced

When a ticket is scanned, it tells you how and when it was "used". For example, I would expect the history to show me that the barriers at Shrewsbury accepted the ticket, and perhaps a further scan en route from Shrewsbury to crewe. It's possible the person who charged again does not...

Should TrainFX be considered an acceptable PIS solution?

It definitely is up on the boards at Leeds and vic. It started on the new notice case as part of the general tfx instructions and then got reposted a few months back. And it definitely is in the book of codes, at the back of the book. It's not particularly prominent in either to be fair . I...
