    Northern Unit Refurbishments

1 323223 is still running around in its previous unrefurbished state so I'm guessing it's another 323 being referred to making a journey from Wolverton to Allerton.

    Northern Pacer Withdrawals - Info?

No cracks or bird poo. It's foam from the windscreen washer which has lain after the wiper has returned to parked position following use.

    Northern 323s refurbishment and cascade

The only paint any of 323223-323239 have seen since their initial GMPTE as delivered colours has been yellow warning ends, external window frames on all bodyside windows. Both First North Western's and Serco-abellio Northern's actual liveries were applied in vinyl wrap as opposed to paint. Edit...

    Northern 323s refurbishment and cascade

Having been directly involved in these particular units for more than 15 years I can categorically confirm they have been maximum top permitted speed of 90mph throughout. As is to be expected they are capable of considerably higher speed though.

    Northern Unit Refurbishments

I'm of the understanding that the Northern Connect franchise specification customer information screens and electronic seat reservation will be added/made to work in the near future. The LED screens shown will simply have been to make the unit ready for service, after all we are all too aware of...

Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

If the Northern branding is larger than standard I'd imagine it'd be one of the details that'd be rectified on acceptance by the operator. From the images two other differences stand out from the current standard, that being the coloured n 'bubbles' are those of the former colour palette, not...

What will happen to Northern, ATW & GWR if the Class 769 "FLEX" fails?

Crewe via Manchester Airport and Crewe via Stockport services are in the hands of class 319s and were so with the introduction of the much publicised May 20th service changes. The closure of Liverpool Lime street station for upgrade work did see 323s used for certain journeys but these are now...

    Northern Pacer Withdrawals - Info?

All the former Mersey Rail liveried 142's had a LAWO P.I.S installed with auto announce function. As far as I recall union opposition saw the use of the announcement function never used despite being functional until at least 2017, at which point standard Northern route destination codes were...

    Northern Unit Refurbishments

More likely the most recent 319/4 Northern acquired. The exact number escapes me but the unit noted above most definitely has a first class section in place and majority 2+2 seating throughout, retaining its Thameslink white livery with light blue doors .

    Arriva Rail North DOO

I'm not too sure where it explicitly states former train guards/conductors will be the ones deployed in the role on stations. My personal thoughts on the matter are that contracted out staff would most likely be the ones taking on those roles, akin to how the most recent tranche of station...

    Northern Unit Refurbishments

This could go some way to help justify why First North Western didn't see fit to make further alteration to the class 156 fleet whilst under their franchise term. A mere 8 years after initially being attended to could've seemed like unjustifiably unnecessary expense...
