    Reverse Situation: Leaving the Railway

My experience was same as yours, infact I failed the first time and rightly so. The second time she did not give anything away but even that we are still assessed week in and week out and there's only so much the trainers can help you. I think it's the luck of the draw as to who you get but most...

    Reverse Situation: Leaving the Railway

How do you not know they haven't worked hard? We still have to sit the same assessments as everyone and we are still assessed same as everyone else. I'm not sure why it annoys you? Just because you accepted crap and had crap facilities for women's wc doesn't mean we all should. Perhaps want...

    Awaiting start with TFL

Tocs have good progression. Many drivers and guards now were ex gateline and platform. One thing I gotta say is that (from the outside) tfl do pay very well for csa roles and theres great perks in comparison to tocs. When I was gateline for a toc it was the starting entry job so was very low...

    Reverse Situation: Leaving the Railway

Just my input, but I think being in the railway industry we are often spoilt. Some of my friends are shocked that our breaks are paid for instant. This is for all grades. I've done gateline, platform and now driving. Unfortunately I don't see anywhere else that would be better in pay and terms...

    Assessment Day Help

The only test you can practice on is the group bourdon one. Check the sticky thread and print out the pages and pratice everyday. This is the test where the more you do the more you get better as you start to recognise what 4 clusters of dots looks like. Everything else, as long as you know...

    Assessment Day Help

I agree, there's only so much one can explain the tests. It's been done in depth here. We've all given hints and tips and explained what it is but all these extra questions will be answered on the day during the practice turns. Its just overthinking it now.

    Assessment Day Help

You'll just end up confusing yourself with all these questions. On the day you get a practice turns so you can make your own judgement and perception of the test.

    Assessment Day Help

It doesn't matter what the passage is because believe me it's on a topic you can't read up on. Just read the passage and memorise the key points. Vigilance, it's different pics but the options remain the same example road signs, pedestrian etc so is not as hard as the practice ones as you know...

    Rail strikes discussion thread

Your not continuing because your wrong. He is right, swapping is not a right, its a favour. I've done swaps previously - given nice early AR turns for night jobs (had to swap all week instead of the 2 day as would break hidden) because I wanted to do a favour but in the end I didn't benefit from...

    Rail strikes discussion thread

Haven't commented on this thread but sow this comment so I had to... I hate this narrative that boomers have, I suffered so I want everyone else to suffer. Just because you get a fixed income from the government due to a diaability doesn't mean everyone should. Maybe want better for others...

    Assessment Day Help

Your kinda overthinking everything. There's two joysticks and one goes up and down and another goes sideways. You have practice turns, make use of this by not going to the end until your confident. Good luck.

That's a bit cheeky to ask. Think customer service, working as a team and following rules and procedure etc

When I went I think 34 was the cut off point and by cut off point I mean they just tell you not to eat junk and eat better so you will be absolutely fine.

GTR - Trainee Train Driver vacancies (07/12/20)

Excatly that. Unfortunately there isn't much hornsey or inner link driver instructors available so I'll probably end up going with Peterborougher or Cambridge DI until a inner link driver becomes available.

How do people afford a car?

I get 75% off underground and national rail fares but I'd rather drive to places cause I hate public transport. Even if I'm going up north or Midlands I'd rather perfer to drive as it gives me a bit of freedom when I'm there. I live in zone 3 in London and having a car makes my life so much easier.
