ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

the other big advantage is not having doors in the centre of the coaches and the blast of freezing cold air at every station for 11.5 months of the year.

    Inverness Station redevelopment

To be fair private car use is pretty essential in the Highlands. You still can’t really live in Inverness without a car. The dream of public transport is incredibly difficult to make a reality in a rural area like the highlands.

Could Covid-19 impact on the Scotrail HST project?

Doesn't really work like that here. People are realising how much more productive you can be without the travelling. Savings are huge. Our industry we don’t do all that lunching stuff. Doesn’t work that way. The world has changed business travel will most likely never go back to what it was...

Could Covid-19 impact on the Scotrail HST project?

Moderator note: Split from https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/scotrail-hst-introduction-updates-discussion.137911/ The virus could be a significant blow to the HST project. I travel weekly or fortnightly on the HML as do others in my office. We have used technology to carry out meetings for...

That is good news. It shows people are following the rules and we will hopefully get over this all the quicker.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Spend my life dealing with the interface between finance and delivery of construction activity. It is my role to explain to accountants what is needed and why. My experience is that there should be no friction if this is explained correctly. No business can run without controlling costs...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Completely agree with this and have posted on this topic earlier in the thread. I am a regular user of the HML and can honestly say in the last 15 years have rarely ever experienced a break down of the rolling stock. The 170 / 158 fleets are well maintained. The teams doing so obviously...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Been travelling a bit less over the last month but the four round trips from Inverness have all been refurbs and very decent journeys. Certainly seem to have got on top of the reliability, some credit must go to them for the improvement Notice though the livery on the power cars isn’t...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

It is common for people to stand on HML services. That isn’t acceptable given the distances involved. How many don’t even try the train because of the overcrowding? HML needs extra capacity.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

As a regular user of the train I am not overly bothered about a few minutes here and there. What is important is a predictable reliable service with seats and reservations and a decent catering offering. Get that right first. yesterday was on LNER down to Perth, like the Azuma more each...

POLL: Which Freightliner branding do you prefer? Green or Orange?

Think the orange livery looks very smart. Looks much brighter and fresher than the Green and yellow.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

The bike issue affects a small minority of passengers. A very small minority. While I can appreciate that for those people that is annoying it is no reason to decry the whole project a disaster. Your other points are operational more than physical. I like the lighting have no issue with...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

At the risk of going over and over the same debate, many would agree that if we had the benefit of hindsight the original decision was flawed, seriously flawed. However we cant go back in time and the decision has been made and substantial funds been invested. When the refurbs are out and...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

As regular traveller on the HML they are the best way of getting to Edinburgh or Glasgow. Way ahead of the 170 no blast of cold air at every station and better than the azuma . Very well received by most passengers. Not just train spotters. Just need to get them performing reliably and that...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

was in the 3 pm from Glasgow to Inverness. Was 40 mins late into INVERNESS. Every station from Perth North one power car stalled when we stopped. To a few minutes to restart it. Thought HST was ok on HML on one power car?

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Was in Glasgow yesterday HST was really good. As eh ms maintenance teams are getting on top of things that is really good. Am sure Wabtec will get production up and we will see steady improvement. Only cyclists left unhappy!

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

The issues have to be seen as multiple failings. First Angel trains own the assets. Surely up to them to lease to Scotrail a product that works. So I would imagine the contract with Wabtec and Brush who are a part of Wabtec, will be with Angel trains. Angel trains then have a contract with...

Abellio Scotrail Franchise to end early in March 2022

Changing the operator will not necessarily change the performance of the service. more than that needs to change. There is no focus on customers, on many occasions it appears that passengers are a nuisance. the project management of the HST programme has been and continues to be simply...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Lighting is fine most of them run with only half the lights on. Fine for working. Classic interiors are fine as well even if high density seating is not perfect it is better than standing by a country mile.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

I would be surprised can’t see why any HML passengers would say that. The lack of cold air at every station and the noise are hard things to prefer over the HST environment. I have never heard any passenger say that.
