The above comments are only about buses running from the city to southside.

Hi Stan, you are right, 38s can turn at Woodfarm I think some still do at times early/ later in the day at Robslee Rd terminus. Sorry, I hadn’t copied in the post I was replying to. My comment about Woodfarm was replying to someone’s idea about all 38s running via Eastwood Toll and then some...

The 38s suggestion wouldn‘t work. If all 38s go via Eastwood Toll (12 buses an hour) then Woodfarm wouldn’t be served properly and Spiersbridge would not be served There’s no turning area in Woodfarm. Not all 38s go through Eastwood Toll. It would take away a bus service from Spiersbridge...

I think the X81 was a normal service initially, then reduced to peak only then withdrawn. The 3, southside, used to be the ‘23’ and ran every 15 mins with single deckers/ scanias, before being renumbered to the 3. I think the 3 has worked very well, Possibly every 12 mins would work but with...

When the low height E400s were brought in (11/61 plate) the 66 was reduced from 10 mins frequency (10 tri-axle doubles and the rest single deckers) to 12 mins. When Simplicity started, the 6 went back to every 10 mins but that’s resulted in a mix of single and double decks being used. I know...

I agree, the 4 route is not clear. Says the 4A is suspended and the 4 terminating at Eaglesham. Looking at the timetable, it’s actually going to be numbered as 4A rather than the 4. (Presumably as it’s now terminating at Eaglesham). It’s definitely not clear on the main description though. It...

just to clarify, I didn’t say you were wrong or that I’m not listening to ‘constructive criticism’, I just said I was disappointed that you are focussing on the negatives. As you say, we’re all entitled to our opinions. FG have adapted to the changes and kept things running. One bus an hour is...

If you own your own business, it’s not normal to make major decisions based on feedback in a ‘day or two’. That’s reactive, not proactive. That can lead to disaster. If they quickly reacted to the situation and cut services like the ‘21, 263 etc’ to hourly, there would be major feedback. If...

I don’t think there’s been time to do customer feedback due to how quickly everything has moved on over the last week or two. I think First Glasgow have done well on this, they could have slashed the frequencies at a very early stage but they’ve done it gradually. (And updated their website)...

I don’t think the 4 did get the E400MMCs in 2015, apart from some spares. It was the 5 and X85/X87 that got them as far as I remember. Then the 5 lost them to the X3/X11. Yeah the 4 was two buses going to each terminus an hour when it was every 10 mins and they dropped Muirend turning circle...

Wee buses on big services today! Nimbus MXZ 2128 was on the 5 today. It went past the 6 I was on going into the city then it was back out again to Castlemilk approx 12.15pm. I saw a Solo on the 3 at 11.45 at Shawlands today. Too far away to get the reg though.

Do the 38s have Easterhouse on the branding? I thought it was just Giffnock through to Alexandra Parade branded so they can be used on any 38/A/B/C/E, so covers any of them going to Eastwood Toll, Newton Mearns, Spiersbridge, Easterhouse, Chryston , Baillieston and Barlanark. I don’t see the...

Ways to improve the First Glasgow Network

I saw that 21 on Mill Street, Rutherglen, today on the X11 branded E400, city bound. Last part of the reg was OGK. (I was driving the other way so only caught part of the reg). It was about 12.45pm.

I like your ideas but I suppose the issues there would be the frequencies. I think the 41 is every 10 mins. The 10 is every 15 mins I think. The 38 is every 10 mins Easterhouse to Eastwood Toll (every 2nd bus going to Mearns), the 57 is every 15 mins. I doubt they’ll increase the 10/57 to...

    More express buses in Glasgow?

Not an express service but to reduce the service time to East Kilbride, the 21 to EK could use the Cathkin Relief Road. There are 4 21’s an hour, 2 terminate at Springhall/ Cathkin and 2 at Gardenhall. The Cathkin/ Springhall ones could continue to go through Fernhill, the EK buses could use...

When the E500s arrived, they were due for the 62, Faifley to Baillieston. (Current 2). Either when they arrived or just before, they realised that Parkhead depot didn’t have an Adblue tank (major planning error there) so they were put to Larkfield. They were put on the 75 however after a few...

Sorry, I just meant the 6 could use a similar frequency that the 2 uses if all single decker, didn’t mean that they interwork as the 2 serves all Dumbarton Rd but the 6 moves over to Great Western Road. The 6A would still be needed for GWR. The 6 at all single decker, 9 per hour, would give...

Just did a bit of arithmetic on this, if they were happy to make it all double decker at 12 minute frequency, to go all single, the closest would be 9 single deckers per hour. So following the frequency of the 2, ie 6mins then 7mins then 7 mins, then 6/7/7/6/7/7.

The 66 used to be every 10 mins, mostly Scanias and some tri-axle Nordics (there were only 10 of the Nordics I think). If I remember correctly, when the low height E400s arrived, they changed the 66 from every 10 to 12 minutes as it was to be all decker. When Simplicity started, and renumbered...

Good to hear the 38 is getting new buses! The Geminis are ok, the Tridents not so much. Just a thought, if the 38 gets new buses, is it possible it’s just for the 38 (not the B/C/E)? 38 is Easterhouse to Eastwood Toll every 10 mins (with every second one extended to Newton Mearns) The B/C/E...
