    Trivia: Britain's Strangest Bus Routes

Carousel Buses 102 route from High Wycombe to Heathrow Central via Uxbridge which has a bit of an identity crisis being classed as a bus route yet operated with coaches. By virtue, this means that it is one of the few routes where a Freedom pass is valid on a coach as it is still classed as a...

    Class 345 progress

Short answer is yes. There is nothing to stop the T4 branch being used as you describe although utilizing the additional platform at West Drayton may be an easier score.

    Class 345 progress

The increased frequencies to Heathrow post May were indeed only ever possible with the introduction of 345's. Four 360's could only manage 2tph PAD - Heathrow T4 + 2tph Heathrow T4 - Heathrow T2&3. The latest round of internal documents being distributed by Heathrow dated this week still...

    Finchley Road Display Screens

The one closest to the stairs can only currently display the first service, the one half-way down shows the full complement.

    Class 345 progress

The unit sent down to Heathrow tonight seems to have gotten into difficulty at the ETCS boundary causing a 10 min stand off. It's set route was subsequently cancelled is and is currently heading back to OOC via the Down Airport Relief. It may have only been 10 mins but it sure has called for...

    Class 345 progress

Leading cabs will stop in the tunnel from the passenger perspective as all HEX and XR services do at the moment. The ramp is actually quite a bit further away, it's just hidden by a false headwall with OPO monitors behind that too. Tolerances for the 332's operating in nine car formation are...

Watford North Curve in use 11/12 January

You could argue that designating trains Watford then Amersham/Chesham as their destination was less confusing for passengers thinking that it would instead be heading direct to Ricky from Moor Park.

    Heathrow Southern Link proposals

No surprises there that Western Rail Access is higher up the list of priorities given the volumes of traffic already originating from the West Country and the wider South West. HSR can rant and rave all they want, what HAL have set out is more deliverable in the current economic/political climate.

Watford North Curve in use 11/12 January

Precisely, keeping a pool of drivers with the appropriate route knowledge increases the flexibility of the service during times like this. It perhaps had greater uses when running all the way to Paddington but it's still a good utilization of flexibility that maintains a connection to Central...

"Jacobite" Fort William to Mallaig - No Heating??

I've travelled on the Jacobite a few times at the height of summer and at the end of the season. I can't say I ever felt cold but some do choose to keep their coats on whilst inside the train which as others may have highlighted might be down to the inefficiencies/poor maintenance of steam heating.

    Reading on the tube map

If some stations could have been incorporated into the existing fare charts loaded on the Oyster card without undermining GWR fares as per the operating agreement, then I'm sure they would have. It's likely the iterations of having some shared stations interspersed with TfL only ones would have...

Uber loses licence to operate in London

Uber will attempt to roll out facial recognition in a bid to quash the decision in the courts. Should be an interesting argument given how unreliable this experimental technology has proven to be with the security services.

Uber loses licence to operate in London

Despite the popularity of the company, there no getting away from the fact that Uber's priorities lie with the profitability of its algorithms over the safety competence of its drivers. Talk to anyone who is involved with road transport, Uber incidents will probably out number them all. I...

London Bus Route 140 Heritage Event (23/11/19)

Yes I would imagine they did. I was drafted in as Operations Supervisor at Heathrow for that day and most of the heritage runs were rammed with normal passengers easily outnumbering enthusiasts for most of the day. The regular 140 was incredibly light loaded even during the 2PM peak when the...
