Trainee train driver - Liverpool and Sheffield

Anybody know what routes and diversions Liverpool based drivers sign? I'm sure it'll be on this forum somewhere but can't find anything! If not, definitely a good question for an interview!

    Class 314 Withdrawals

Photos have emerged on Flickr taken May 2020 of one driving coach of 204 still intact at Eastleigh works, the set had been split up and no photos of the trailer and other motor coach, so unsure whether they are still intact or not.

    Cleaners interview

A basic understanding of COSHH (control of substances hazardous to health - different chemical warning labels etc) is an added bonus too. Give it a little research and learn the basics and it's something good to bring up. It was quite an important factor when I worked as a cleaner at Stagecoach Bus.

Status of Merseyrail Class 507/508 units in storage or being withdrawn

508110 noted today I believe heading back through the stock interchange. I saw another freshly exam'd 508 yesterday on the Wirral line, didn't quite catch the number but it was either 112 or 122. Presume 112 as it had been mentioned earlier as being off for a exam.

Status of Merseyrail Class 507/508 units in storage or being withdrawn

Not heard anything lately but I can ask around. Worth noting a number of units have been overhauled/had an exam recently, plenty running around with shiney cab ends and fresh black bogies / camshaft covers etc. Not sure what level of exam they've had though!

TRIVIA: when have bus companies "renamed" a destination

I wouldnt know, when I was younger the buses all showed a destination called 'Black/Green Blank'!

    Tissue begging on trains

They are extremely common in Europe in places such as Berlin, Barcelona etc. Cant count how many times I have had people get on, beg the whole train length then get off and try the next. I have also seen this every time I have been in London over the past 5 years. Also in both of these...

    Smartcards

Its quite pointless on Merseyside, we have the ITSO Walrus card (now being replaced with the new ITSO Metro card) and can buy Merseytravels Saveaway day tickets on them (bus train ferry), Solo (Bus only) and Stagecoach/Arriva bus weekly tickets. There are no card scanners at most Merseyrail...

Owning a part of a pacer (or any other train for that matter)

Not sure if the 313s are the same/similar in this regard, but I recall a few years back reading that the very similar 507/508s have asbestos in parts of the heating systems or something? I suppose this could be the reason, but a lot of trains scrapped before them also have parts made from...

Owning a part of a pacer (or any other train for that matter)

The same applied to the GN Class 313s, a friend of mine had enquired with the leasing company and the various scrapyards regarding some parts and was told they have a total destruction order on them so can't sell anything on. A destination blind from one did appear on ebay a few weeks ago and...

How much to run a bus per hour?

Most new buses bought by stagecoach have been and are still Alexander Dennis. Either Stagecoach or the chap who owns it (I can't remember) own big shares in ADL so are in effect buying buses from him/their selves. I did read a while ago they were selling their share but not sure if they actually...

Liverpool City Region Franchising model (Echo 20/02/20)

As reported in the following article on the Liverpool Echo Wesbite A TfL style franchising approach in which bus operators will bid for their routes and a proper integrated ticketing system will be brought in. This has been brought up before by the Metro Mayor, resurfacing the issue to win...

What disciplinary action would most likely be taken against a driver for carrying a banned person?

It has been known in the past when the cameras first came in, but now where I work they have to fill about 6000 forms in everytime they need to download CCTV explaining why, logging reference numbers, etc etc, because there will be children in the footage or something along those lines. As far...

    Dog on seat.

Where I work we can allow multiple dogs onboard at our discretion although usually best to ask both owners how their dogs react to other dogs first. General rule of thumb is if we have a dog onboard a double decker and a 2nd passenger with dog wants to board, ask them to sit on the opposite deck...

What disciplinary action would most likely be taken against a driver for carrying a banned person?

Camera trawling is common, and often they find reason to pull drivers in for something they see when they have been looking through the footage for something else and stumbled across it on the way. Quite possible a driver could have been pulled in for letting banned people onboard, but surely...

What disciplinary action would most likely be taken against a driver for carrying a banned person?

We have 1 guy banned from our buses, easily recognisable and everybody knows him. I think for sexual offences. He only tries to board at one same stop and most people know to refuse him (he always steps off as soon as anybody says something to him as he knows he isnt allowed on but tries...

How much to run a bus per hour?

In my place of work they are having some real issues as the fleet is relatively new - yes you read that right! Volvo B5LH Hybrid Geminis, 13 plate. They are causing problems at the moment and costing an absolute fortune to maintain. If i remember rightly 3 of the 33 are on their 2nd engine...
