You’re correct about Birkenhead. No Sail/Rail option.

    Train services to ferry terminals

The single sailings in each direction each day on Belfast/Cairnryan on which Sail/Rail is offered do have a bus connection at Belfast’s ferry terminal which is what matters though.

    Train services to ferry terminals

But the question remains, do the numbers for Fishguard Harbour include Sail/Rail tickets from and to Rosslare? Granted the numbers are still going to be relatively small, but that figure above could be understated.

    Train services to ferry terminals

Sorry, but that is not true at Rosslare. Three out of the four Stena Line sailings six days a week now have direct connections to or from Dublin Connolly and stations along the Irish east coast, the only one not connected being the 08:00 sailing from Rosslare. That is most definitely an...

    Larne to Rosslare ticketing

No, NIR do not print Irish Rail tickets. The situation is this: OP if you want a protected journey from Larne to Rosslare, then you need to buy the ticket at Larne Harbour station. You can get the ticket price by calling Translink directly on the phone. Otherwise purchase a Larne-Dublin...

    Caledonian Sleeper

The departure from Inverness is (under normal circumstances) only available for seated passengers heading to stations south of the Scottish border. The reason that the northbound service normally picks up seated passengers from Kingussie northwards is to facilitate commuters for a pre-09:00...

GWR operating short 'HSTGTi' sets (see diagrams section for workings)

People do need to remember that these shortened HSTs, in the main, are, as 37424 posts above, operating local services between Penzance and Plymouth (supplementary services over the previous timetable and replacing Sprinters on other services), with some extensions to Exeter, and between Cardiff...

GWR operating short 'HSTGTi' sets (see diagrams section for workings)

Ah Philipe I think I’m here long enough to know that to be fair!! ;-) I was just looking at the base summer timetable (take any week in July) and trying to figure out the planned diagrams of HST and DMU sets in Cornwall and Devon. To be fair the number of STP workings in that neck of the woods...

GWR operating short 'HSTGTi' sets (see diagrams section for workings)

Can anyone post the base summer timetable diagrams for the Castle HST sets (including Sundays)? I realise that engineering works (and indeed Covid) will impact, but it would be interesting to see the base summer diagrams.

    GWR wait times at Newbury

How long is the signalling section east of Newbury - the IET would have to clear the full section before the local train could leave Newbury.

New May 2020 Network Rail timetable

Most of the TOCs haven’t published the May timetable pdfs yet. They’re either publishing the temporary ones or referring people to the journey planner. I wouldn’t expect to see the full May timetable pdfs appear for each TOC until they actually are being operated in full.

Coronavirus: Future of airlines and airports

Indeed the word “Ireland” can be used for both the country and the island, but regardless of whether one might find it ambiguous, the official name of the country in the English language, is “Ireland”. No Irish person would ever say that they are from “Éire” when speaking English. The only...
