    EMR Class 360's

They’ll look a lot more ‘curved’ in nature around the cab windows once the EMR livery has been applied. Similar to a Heathrow Connect 360 or a 185.

    Leicester Station remodelling

I would like to think if and when the remodelling of the wider Leicester and Leicestershire area happens, there will be significant changes and improvements over the current layout. High speed crossovers seem to be a bit of a rarity on the MML. I know there's a few south of Chesterfield, but...

    EMR Class 360's

I think the OP was indirectly pointing out that electric trains are currently limited to 100mph(?) south of Bedford on the original BR electrification.

    Leicester Station remodelling

Usually freight requiring Humberstone Road will go through platform 2 (the down fast) if platform 1 is occupied. I don’t think many freight requiring Humberstone Road are routed on the up/down slow aka ‘round the back’ as that requires crossing both the up and down fast lines. Only as a last...

    Leicester Station remodelling

Wow so at least six months until the first trains can use it. I assume the works will include amendments to signalling as well as various other things?

    Leicester Station remodelling

The question now is when will the stop board be removed from the track? Does further work need to take place which requires another weekend possession?

    Leicester Station remodelling

A picture from a friend showing the new layout out of platform 1. The direct line into Humberstone Road is not yet in use.

    Leicester Station remodelling

Interesting. Could you elaborate on that and perhaps explain what could have been different prior to C19? Thanks.

    Leicester Station remodelling

It'll be interesting to see the new layout in action once all engineers trains and equipment is out the way. Do any alterations to signal LR413 need to be done to it?

    Leicester Station remodelling

These are the old points. They’re painted white to prevent them expanding during high temperatures caused by hot weather.

Some pictures took by a friend this lunchtime, showing the extent of the works.

    Leicester Station remodelling

Back on topic, several engineers trains are now in place at Leicester as the possession is now in place. The old Fox Street loco shunt head has now been removed and is marked as 'GONE' on signaling maps.

@civ-eng-jim That’s great to hear. Thanks for the clarification.

    Leicester Station remodelling

@civ-eng-jim I'm no expert and apologies if incorrect but from what you've said, will the old connection from platform 1 onto the down fast be removed this weekend as well as 'finishing' the connection up to the existing up and down goods or will that require further possessions? I assume it'll...

    Leicester Station remodelling

Work resumes from tomorrow night and into Sunday. It’ll be interesting to see what Network Rail will be able to achieve during this period.

    Leicester Station remodelling

Not to be pedantic but the rescue loco was sent from somewhere else which ran as 1Z98. It then dragged the failed freight to Leicester/Humberstone Road sidings for 1Z99 to take over from there. Getting a bit off topic now so I’ll leave it at that.

    Leicester Station remodelling

More of a overall general observation as opposed to the current remodelling going on but after today's disruption caused by a broken down freight train at Bedford, large delays occurred. This was captured at 23:40 and shows many trains in the vicinity of Leicester station. I'm no expert but I...

Power output request - newish EMUs and DMUs

A 185 would leave the 319 behind by miles at any speed.

    York platform 'zones'

That’s interesting. Helpful for people who don’t have social media and/or smartphones to view disruption. On a separate note, will the announcements reflect the current location of a service for a delayed train? Certain TOC’s and Network Rail managed PIS is able to say ‘This train is currently...
