    Govia Thameslink offence

Perhaps the figures from the last DfT ticketless survey has prompted more serious action to be taken against offenders going forward. The DfT appears to be finally showing signs of wanting to reduce fare evasion (a logical, and some might say stupidly obvious, way to go) and could be directing...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

By all means report my post(s) if you feel it should be removed, but I think there has to be some allowance of discussions about things relating to the cars to help people make a decision or share opinions on whether people are going to switch. If people think that all this tech is going to be a...

Keir Starmer and the Labour Party

I obviously can't comment specifically on your councillors, but it's worth noting just how much funding has been pulled from local councils over the years as central Government have just shifted everything to the council, which is limited by how much it can increase council tax (and if it...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

While that's true, as we transition away from ICE to EV, all of the tech will eventually apply only to electric. Because of safety ratings, this tech will end up on even the most basic entry level models (unless the car maker is happy to sell a 0-1 rated car). Take the Dacia Spring as an...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

Squirt water in face, rattle the seat and put some voltage through the steering wheel. I should patent my anti fatigue system before someone else copies it.

Keir Starmer and the Labour Party

Didn't it happen a while ago and is now statute-barred? If so, what are the police going to be able to do?

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

With safety ratings now seemingly more about technology than physical safety (crumple zones etc) - and I understand the logic so it isn't a bad thing - car makers are all rushing to find ways to implement things like LKA - and must also want to keep costs down. Some cars appear to have done...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

Which you'd surely do if crossing the centre line? (only needs a flick of the stalk) On my old car, it only kicked in if doing over 40mph (indicated, so nearer 36-37mph) and on my current car it's very hit and miss if it detects the line at all given the state of roads (including line painting).

    GB News

One of the main backers is going so that isn't great news. I'm now going to have to find my violin.

    GB News

They're trying. They want a lot more for access to their website than the TV licence fee also! 1712773886 Update: seems the Government have spent over £130k on advertising on GB News. Wonder if they want anything in return?

    Cycle Bag Searching at Stations

I've seen security (including travel safe officers) patrolling station car parks, and the police will sometimes try doors to see if people left them unlocked - then leave a warning notice to ensure vehicles are locked securely to prevent theft. Community forums often show camera footage of...

    Cycle Bag Searching at Stations

Wow, this thread does show some crazy opinions about security, as if this is some targeted attack on cyclists and the motorist gets away scot free to bomb anywhere they like! For one thing, it isn't just bombs. And staff will look for suspicious activity, such as a car or van parked somewhere...

    GB News

Sky manages the advertising for GB News and has been showing some Sky related ads of late, but those are fillers. When the ads are like that, or Government ads, chances are they're free and running because nobody else wanted to pay anything to run their own commercial ad. Even ITV often run no...

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

If we hadn't been led to believe all foreigners are out to kill us or replace us, I would love to live in an alternative reality where we had signed up to be part of the Schengen Area, with all the freedom of movement benefits we could have gained (for one, no issues running trains to lots more...

Could GTR order 140mph trains for the Great Northern route one day?

I would hope that once the new signalling is implemented, we could see more paths becoming available than simply running existing services faster.

Donald Trump Auto Announcement at Liverpool South Parkway

Yeah, having waited near a platform edge for many hours I can confirm it not to be true. :)

    Great Northern Fleet Tender

GTR paid for the livery out of its own pocket, so I assume there wasn't unlimited funds. No internal changes besides signage, at least to begin with.

Had to break through unmanned barriers at Burgess hill tonight

If that was the case, there would need to be a major recruitment drive for more staff - and I can't see the DfT going for that. I am sure every station is risk assessed. If underground, the rules would be different again. On an open platform, there may be refuge points away from the gates or...

    Great Northern Fleet Tender

Yes, just like they did on the GatEx units, the c2c units, and now the GWR units (which actually didn't even get the light blue strips for the disabled door, or yellow for first class - in fact, not sure the GatEx ones did/do either?).

I've never thought much of the Thameslink logo, but they're just logos and surely it's subjective as to whether they're bland or not? Each brand has its own logo and distinct colour scheme and style guides etc.
