    Barrow Crossings

Use of the barrow crossing at Hereford used to be (and possibly still is) part of the training for new on board trolley hosts at Arriva/TfW. Only ever had to do it in anger once and it was a bleddy nightmare given the gaps for the rails are only millimetres narrower than the circumference of a...

Railway bridge over the M4, Bristol

Scroll down southwest a bit and you can see just how exactly Ashley Down is being built on the site of Ashleyhill

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2

Is there a modern, up to date list/gallery of the ones currently in use? I noticed in a social media post that Guildford has recieved one and NR only took over responsibility for that station in 2018, a long time after the icons were first used.

    LNER launching a mascot

Given today's fare announcement, she should have, to quote Peter Kay, a "mask and a striped jumper."

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Manchie before ours was a late F&S 150/2. Loads of room on our 3 car. We've caught it up in Salop. Wonder how many folks would have preferred to take the hour delay in favour of a slightly more comfortable journey

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Not according to RTT or PIS. Probably needs a clean in the sidings or something. But given the amount of shuffling that's already happened today, who knows any more

    3 car 175 now. That'll do.

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

RTT showing 3 car 175. Bearable - coach B will be unreserved at least.

Carmarthen to Aberystwyth by rail any real advantage over T1 bus?

Only people who want a rail link between Carmarthen and Aberystwyth are people who are triggered by having to "travel through England" to get to Aberystwyth from Cardiff.

    GWR Pullman dining reinstated

You need the train that leaves half an hour (or so) earlier.

    I'll hold you to that!

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Well this is encouraging ; not. 1W19 this week has been: a 150 (acceptable but my god) a 3-car 175 (bearable) a 2-car 175 (oh no) and only on 2/5 days a loco-hauled MK4 set (yay) I'm dreading Monday and getting ready to leave earlier if necessary

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

OK cool. We're travelling in 4 weeks to Manchester Airport via Crewe with a couple of cases and I think the more room the better; although oddly I think the best option for us otherwise would be a 150!

    Change of train mid-route?

Once worked a 150 NWP-Holyhead which was then swapped for a 175 at Chester on the return journey. Was fun trying to get a trolley onto an already packed train at Chester which had been sitting there waiting for us for some time.

Is 1W19 (1249 CDF-Manchester) due to be one of the services where the Mk4s will be used?

    Staffing on 10 car Azuma

The guard can say what they like, but if the Host in the other end is busy with their actual job, they're not going to waste time messing about with tickets.
