first capital connect intention to prosecute

To know that they are valid until 04:30 shows a knowledge of the ticketing system, and proves a certain amount of research has been performed. A normal person who just buys a Day Return ticket would assume they had to return that day, therefore just picking a time tomorrow that suits you as the...

first capital connect intention to prosecute

Day returns have Day Return printed on them and the date they are valid. People don't need the fact tomorrow isn't today explained to them by a TOC.

first capital connect intention to prosecute

You seem to have overlooked that apart from breaking the Ts&Cs of a Groupsave ticket, they also used the return portion of a day return ticket the next day.

    Five-car Overground Class 378's

It's been approved. 57 extra carriages to lengthen the current fleet to 5-car and a potential order for new trains - no. of units unknown. http://www.railnews.co.uk/news/2013/02/07-tfl-approves-overground-fivecar-plan.html

Virgin Trains proposed Shrophire - Euston services

If it lists 4 stations it seems unlikely they would miss the 5th, so I doubt it would call at Wolverhampton and one reversal (at Stafford) would be weird, 2 reversals (Stafford and Wolverhampton) would just be bizarre. Looks like via the Oxley curve. I hope there are plenty of through...

BAD customer experience on East Midland Train

And nor should you have to. People don't need to walk round with a posse resembling the United Nations to prove they are not racists, and accusing somebody of racism without any foundation is bang out of order.

My proposal to split XC services at Reading

So if you are saying there isn't much point running the service to Bournemouth, there isn't much point running the service from Bournemouth - Paddington. The core sections of the XC route are the busiest so removing the core sections in order to have additional dodgy add-ons at the extremities...

My proposal to split XC services at Reading

Who cares about Bournemouth? I used the Bournemouth - NW service quite a lot a few years ago and believe me it wasn't busy from Bournemouth.

Media bias: Privatised train fares rise three times faster than cost of living

Although in reality the TOC carries very little of the risk due to cap & collar and Brown recommends removing even more financial risk from TOCs.

My proposal to split XC services at Reading

Now you're really confusing me. If you don't think that the XC trains should be diverted to other routes then why are you saying they should be taken off their existing routes? There are already enough trains from Reading - London so you don't need ones from Bournemouth.

My proposal to split XC services at Reading

Your agrument is people don't care about changing trains or crossing London as long as they get to their destination quicker. Reading - Kent via Tonbridge would take longer than via London, so why would anybody want to use such a service?

My proposal to split XC services at Reading

However, your argument that everybody who currently uses the XC network should be inconvenienced so that a Reading - Tonbridge service can be introduced does look a bit fishy. You state your location as Reading/Hastings and Tonbridge just so happens to be quite a convenient place to change for...

My proposal to split XC services at Reading

It isn't because you live in Reading by any chance and believe Reading is the centre of the universe?

BAD customer experience on East Midland Train

I had quite a lot of sympathy for you until you played the Ali G card. If you believe a member of staff acted inappropriately then contact East Midlands Trains' Customer Services.

My proposal to split XC services at Reading

Again, and for the last time, people like through journeys. It isn't obligatory that every train has to go to London and many people couldn't care less whether their journey takes 3 hours or 2 1/2; they just want to get on a train that takes them to their destination..

My proposal to split XC services at Reading

They're not longer than 4 or 5 cars. They are 4 or 5 car Voyagers. Not everybody, in fact virtually nobody, travelling on them travels the whole route and many people like the convenience of not changing trains.

Media bias: Privatised train fares rise three times faster than cost of living

Yep, by saying the same thing for the 10th time, you've finally convinced me. As we all know commuters into central London have so many alternatives.

My proposal to split XC services at Reading

All diverting Bournemouth - Manchester services to Paddington would do is inconvenience people who want a direct service. No underground lines are at capacity throughout the day, therefore diverting a couple of 4 or 5 car units in the off peak, which are probably fairly lightly loaded anyway...

Media bias: Privatised train fares rise three times faster than cost of living

It's also down to advances in train manufacturing. Grayrigg was a serious accident by any standards, but only 1 person died. Had the train been formed of Mk Is the death toll would probably have been significantly higher. But as you have said with track safety standards, trains would have become...

Media bias: Privatised train fares rise three times faster than cost of living

You can say it as many times as you like, it doesn't mean it makes any sense, or is even true. Nobody knows how much passenger numbers have increased by; they keep adding new ticket types to the numbers and changing the calculation.
