East-West Rail (EWR): Consultation updates [not speculation]

I travelled on ES on Thursday and mistook the advert for the Virtual Reality application for reality - really disappointed there were no sharks and fish outside :D

    Where was Network SouthEast's headquarters?

In the early days of NSE, the headquarters were at Euston (the name of the building escapes me). I worked at Waterloo which was the headquarters for the SouthWest part of NSE, but also where there was a HQ projects team.

    Rail "mystery tours"?

I used to work at Portsmouth & Southsea in the late 70's and remember quite a few of these - sometimes when the trains arrived, we had to shout out "you're here" (or something similar) as the low level platforms could be drab and uninspiring and people didn't realise that they had actually got...

That is good answer Krus - 1851 at the Great Exhibition. Apparently it was a Crampton 4-2-0 called "Folkstone" (sic) but I didn't expect anyone to get the loco. Your cabless museum piece of an open floor sir

    Railway General Knowledge.

My source suggests that it is the UK. For the avoidance of doubt, I will take the liberty of rewording the question slightly "the oldest known existing photo of a railway locomotive was taken when and of what?" - I was really looking for decade for the date

That will be the one - I kept seeing these coaches approaching on the other carriageway and out of the corner of my eye saw "M34" and thought it was a destination. Mr Challenge - your stage coach, pardner

    General Knowledge Quiz

Nope - I rarely use a satnav on the A34 (sadly I know this road all to well). Another clue - you could see this signage on certain roads elsewhere (unfortunately if I gave details of which route it might just give things away too easily), it is just that the juxtaposition between that A34 and...

    General Knowledge Quiz

Ok - time for a bit of a clue. I see this travelling on the A34 - do not assume that it is only myself travelling, the signage could be travelling too (and no I am not driving under the influence )

    General Knowledge Quiz

Ok in Martinsh's absence, I'll dive in if I may - I live near and travel quite often on the A34 in Oxfordshire/Berkshire/Hampshire, but where would I see signage for the M34? (some element of lateral thinking may be required)

Thanks - but I think that Martinsh was closer (I actually meant it was the wettest place). I have question waiting though if Martinsh doesn't mind
