Nationalisation isn't a cure all though. It can slice both ways: better investment vs pruning/cuts. To work effectively it would require MPs of all parties to reach a consensus that a nationalised rail industry has value to the country as a whole and that running at a profit isn't the greatest...

At the moment, my vote goes to Huddersfield. Due to the alterations being done the place is full of scaffolding. It looks very dark and grim. I'm sure it'll look great once it's done.
If it was down to the driver or guard then gritting time would have to be added onto the dwell time for each stop they were required to grit. It's make for a very slow journey! :)
I noted yesterday that the loops near Brightside said SNOW, assuming this was due to them being covered in snow. Which then lends the question of why the Deepcar branch stated POO. :)
It seems to have been changed since.
I thought all mail traffic had stopped decades ago (2003?). I remember reading about all the 325s going into storage. I hadn't realised they'd come back!
Exactly where I'm at.
I'd take a first gen DMU over a steam engine any day.
I have been on steam hauled trains in preservation of course. They're certainly interesting, but I have no nostalgia for them.
