    Mixed news from France

Interesting. I am a Sudouest reader but for Lot et Garonne and hadn't seen that. There are also plans to reintroduce a cross country service from the SW to Lyon.

    Mixed news from France

Mixed news from France. On the one hand "the Government has committed over 4 billion Euros earlier than planned to the TGV Paris-Toulouse project." The Connexion: https://www.connexionfrance.com/Practical/Transport/TGV-link-to-connect-Paris-and-Toulouse-in-three-hours-brought-forward On...

Hi. I have looked at this again and altered the Spreadsheet. If you enter the data as, for example Trentels Ladignac as N 44 26 35.22 E 0 53 5.63 in Google and search, it will be recognised in Google Maps and you can use the directions button to drive to it. Cheers

SW France - TER Périgueux-Agen - Route Details

An alternative that shows the place names on a schematic is here: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligne_de_Monsempron-Libos_%C3%A0_Cahors It is in French but will translate on Chrome easily. In the righthand box at the bottom you should see "Schéma de la ligne" click on the hyperlink in blue...

SW France - TER Périgueux-Agen - Route Details

Following a couple of messages about this route, I am attaching a MS Excel Sheet that gives the location of all the Stations on the route, so that they can be viewed on Google Earth. I have also attached a link to my Flickr Album - very much a work in progress as Covid restrictions permit...

    SW France - TER Périgueux-Agen

This line has been looked at very closely by the "Bean Counters" and has been unofficially under threat. Following the recent storms and floods down here there has been a big landslip just south of Monsempron-Libos. They estimate 3,000 M3 of rubble has to be removed before they can stabilise...

Why are so many TGV stations in the middle of nowhere?

As I understand things, the Administrative Court rulings about part of the project were eventually overturned but I believe that there are still some legal complications over the Toulouse area. It is difficult to keep up with all the Court and Court of Appeal decisions.

Why are so many TGV stations in the middle of nowhere?

I live in Lot et Garonne, midway between Bordeaux and Agen. There are still many "LGV - NON" signs about.

SW France - Lot et Garonne Tram system.

I have updated my photo Album of the old Lot et Garonne Tram system. This was a metric gauge system that operated between 1911 and 1933. https://flic.kr/s/aHsmL8qBh4

Disused South West French Rail Lines - Part 6

I am pleased that you enjoying these. I intend adding co-ordinates to the photos so they can be found on Google Earth but that is a later stage. This is only a brief reply as I am in a boat cabin, using a tablet connected to my mobile as a hotspot! I will have "full fat" broadband again in a...

SNCF - Old Film Series on Youtube

Apologies if you all know this already but there are a series of short films made by the SNCF showing their activities in France. The series is called "LE MAGAZINE DU RAIL" and then they are numbered. I have posted the link to one here, fascinating if you are interested in the history of rail...

Disused South West French Rail Lines - Part 4

I live in the South West of France and I am slowly photographing the Stations (and other important structures) on the network of disused lines in this area. Some of them have been turned into a Voie Verte - a cycle/walking path. I have just updated my Flickr Album on the Bordeaux to Eymet...

    Bordeaux Archives Exhibition.

Bonsoir All, I went to the Archives Bordeaux Metropole on Tuesday. They have an Exhibition running called “Bordeaux et la folie du Chemin du Fer. 1838 – 1938” It was fascinating, I never realised how many Rail Stations there used to be – some grander than others. Anyway, the Archives have...
