    OPC Avanti Clothing

I wore a full on suit, just incase someone from my TOC was there. First impressions count! If you don't have a suit go for anything formal you have.

    Proof of address

I can hand on heart say I was never asked for proof of address in my role with my current employer. But an upto date utility bill (not mobile phone ) or council tax bill is the best bet. However with my previous rail employer it was virtually impossible to pass the third party security checks...

Train Driver OPC assessments "2 chances rule"?

Oh I get that, for online things I've had to input my NI number. But what's stopping some nefarious person entering incorrect details online. At least in person things are slightly more formal and verified in person. I've even seen people turned away for not having proof at assessments.

Train Driver OPC assessments "2 chances rule"?

Just note that when you do the assessments in person, you must show proof of NI number. Online you dont have to show the proof. Hopefully that helps ease your mind that online tests don't count towards your lives.

Should train driving be a graduate profession?

Sounds like you're on about me. I highly doubt it though.

Train Driver OPC assessments "2 chances rule"?

I'm fairly certain that if you physically didn't sit the tests you have not used a life. I remember at my tests a member of the assessment team warned someone that if they failed a test they would lose their lives and then in turn their standard psychometric pass. But with anything, as said...

    Lumo journey experiences

It isn't the case as much anymore. Prior to me leaving employment with them a couple weeks ago coach E wasn't unreserved. It tended to be the first sets of seats on each side of each coach when you entered them, you know those lovely windowless seats. Something changed and it wasn't...

Are Talent Pools worth the paper they're written on?

That's exactly what talent pools are for. Wether it be filling in for retirement or natural wasteage in the job. When positions are available they have a pool of people they can pick from.

Are Talent Pools worth the paper they're written on?

Can only speak for myself, but I've been in talent pools in the past and my place has expired. It was disheartening having to reinterview and subsequently failing the second interview attempt for conductor But on the flip side, I've recently been pulled out of a talent pool and currently on a...

I was under the impression PTS couldn't be transferred over? Like if you moved from one TOC to a new employer they wouldn't accepted your PTS from older employer.

    Northern train driver apprentice interview

Throughout the whole process I've only gone by the material given to me prior to interview and assessments. This forum is a godsend for advice so use it to your advantage but try not to overthink things. I've applied a few times for this role and been knocked back majority of the times. But...

    Northern train driver apprentice interview

You'll have been sent a handy little guide from Northern once they confirm your interview date and time. Essentially it'll tell you that the questions will be competency based. "Tell me about a time you have followed rules and procedures?" Or "tell me about a time you have worked in a team?"...

Yeah, I start next month with a different TOC as a trainee. Gutted it wasn't with TPE, but to be given a chance elsewhere is a blessing! Who knows what five or so years down the line entails for me. But for now im over the moon with where i'm off to.
