    Public perception of railways

Me and my mate talked about this yesterday. We had an overnight stay and night out in Harrogate (from West Mids). One of our mates took a lift with his brother, as he said the trains were "a waste of time". We reminded him it was a better run system than Germany's (they have 63% punctuality...

Thought on emerging and future risks to UK rail freight operations? [open discussion]

I've argued for further electrification of freight routes or at least those routes with extensive freight operations. This has to be the way forward as the railway has to gain credibility for being a 'greener' way to travel. of course, not all and deisel or hybrid engines will still be needed...

    Public perception of railways

Agree with this and it was (kind of) my argument. Much of the chaos was caused by passengers on the platform, who didn't have the capacity , patience or requirement to hang back for another train. But people without any railway education will see it and bash the railways 9 times out of 10.

    Euston overcrowding

Always use Traksy at Euston. Did this in July getting a Wolverhampton train. Knew the op number and saw it at the platform. Sauntered down 20 mins before platform was announced and got my seat ( not the Eltonesque double one.).

Earlier cancelled service meant this train was packed to the rafters. People in the bike racks. For £40 plus? Waiting for next...

    Cross Country problems at Leeds

Nightmarish today. 1 Voyager on 12.11 Leeds - New St ( from Edinburgh). Too many on the platform (12) , quite dangerous. Physically could not get on the train. Overcrowded. Then someone drops a bag between platform and train. Hopefully get on the 13.11 which is now 20 minutes late. Technically...
