Just got the emergency notification on my phone in the last 10/15 mins. STV news mentioned that some areas may have the second lowest air pressure on record. I would expect significant disruption on Saturday as well given the amber warning is in force until 9pm. Stay safe out there!

Found myself taking the subway for the times time in a few weeks yesterday. Noticed a big reduction in the shoogle and the doors opened much quicker when I went in both directions.

I think the issue is with the bridges carrying the Forth and Clyde canal across the railway. Not an easy one to solve if the track can't be lowered!

Stirling platforms 4 and 5 don't serve much use any more. I don't think they are at passenger standards though. It doesn't have a number, but there are the remains of an old platform in Aberdeen next to Platform 3. It's commonly used to store ECS I think, but it's not available for passenger use.

I'm not sure they do but open to being corrected! They flew to Liverpool and Heathrow for a season but have since pulled out. Their remaining UK flights are only to Aberdeen and are all on Dash-8s I think.

Air France also runs E190s to at least Edinburgh, Manchester and Newcastle- maybe more destinations too. Air Dolimiti through Lufthansa also fly out of London City.

The GSR will be at the mercy of Glasgow City Council, who will want to reopen roads as soon as possible. I doubt they actually have much say in when they can start. ScotRail will have known about the event for months. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect them to do a tiny bit of forward...

Not quite number 1, but the Emirates A380 departure from Glasgow was number 2 last week for some reason. It flies directly over my work most days.

Maybe I'm reading into it too much or it's just a coincidence, but RTT shows no services on the EK branch starting 25/01/25, whereas other lines have the timetable up. Crossmyloof shows only services to Barrhead and Kilmarnock for example.

There's a lot of housing planned for the area so I'd expect that to take up most of it.

I'd imagine that the answer would be a firm No to getting delay repay, though I wonder if that would hold up if it was challenged with sufficient evidence showing you couldn't leave the platform until the delay threshold was reached. Would it be any different if you arrived 30+ minutes late to...

I can't see any further MK5 stock being used unless bi-mode locomotives were procured with them. Whatever the replacement stock is, I strongly suspect it will be some sort of bi-mode unit - probably a conventional diesel / electric bi-mode that has provision to swap engines out at a later date...

Ah of course, the Class 373, APT, TGV and Amtrak Avelia units are well known for looking remarkably tram like...

If they aren't trains, then what are they?!:s I'm not really sure what your point is here? Do you have an issue with articulated coaches which are used by intercity units across the world?
