    Reform UK discussion

Not happening, particularly as some of the new intake of Labour MPs are to the right of the Lib Dems. It's still the first year of the Parliament so why would they expend their political capital now? More likely that the plans will be moderated when it's debated in the next couple of months...

    Reform UK discussion

As we have one for the other parties... Reform are campaigning in the Kent County Council election as they are elsewhere. From their local social media pages they seem to be doing door to door campaigning more than the Tories. They have a series of Facebook posts with a lot of likes / comments...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

Some anecdata from my centrist commuter belt town where I've been canvassing for the local election this week. On the terraced streets like mine you see the odd EV but I've just done a road of villas with driveways and there are *loads* of Teslas and others. If kerbside charging can be sorted...

New station: Wixams, Bedfordshire. How many platforms and what should the service be like?

Agreed it's likely now, but like the Lower Thames Crossing it either needs a national gov DCO or local authority planning permission.

    Widest section of railway

Where is the widest railway as in the most tracks side by side? I'll start with the SEML between Grove Park and Hither Green where I think there is a few metres with 27: 8 up side sidings 5 main line 1 down side train wash 8 down side sidings 5 in the freight sidings (?)

    British Airways

On BA longhaul will they typically allocate 2 passengers on the same booking into adjacent seats (without doing seat selection), rather than doing a Ryanair and splitting them up?

    Virgin Atlantic Meals?

In 2023 I was on a VS departure from JFK scheduled at 23.00, actual departure closer to 01.00 and they still served dinner after take off.

Towns or Cities where you were born or lived that have declined or improved over the years

Staying in South London Deptford is an example of how 'improvements' are subjective. Some things like the DLR connection and the library would be seen as beneficial by lots of residents. However there has recently been aggressive gentrification - apartments and restaurants which are much more...

Line names that are no longer used.

The most misleading is 'Mid Kent' for the Hayes Line.
