    Aberdeen to Penzance

True, but I was noting the mention of a train at 08:40. Could be pushing it given 'Spoons will only open at 08:00. Though that being said, that particular Wetherspoons served me by far and away the worst 'Spoons breakfast I've ever had. Just what I wanted after a pretty much entirely sleepless...

Lumo - passenger experience criticised in Which? review

I don't recall any of that when I used them from Edinburgh to Kings Cross last week. Wasn't a particularly busy train by Lumo standards though, I was in the rear coach Southbound which was the least filled. Had a pair of seats to myself on the coast side until Newcastle where I got evicted and...

    Aberdeen to Penzance

There's a Sainsbury's Local near Aberdeen station as well as a Greggs in the shopping centre which will be open before 1V60 departs. Just be aware that if you want any alcohol for the journey you will need to buy it before 10PM the night before due to Scottish licencing laws. The first class...

    Station pubs (part two?)

I meant if it were £10 a pint I'd have walked out. I'm well used to paying £5/6 a pint for lager, never mind craft beers.

    Station pubs (part two?)

For two drinks! I'd have walked out of that'd been for one, don't worry!

Lumo - passenger experience criticised in Which? review

To be fair, if such a service is advertised as part of the service, it's not unreasonable to expect it to be provided. If you walked into King's Cross station expecting to be able to buy a sandwich and a bottle of coke because you've either done so before, or seen online that there are plenty...

    Station pubs (part two?)

Decent little place. Far busier than I ever remember it being in it's previous guise. Not too bad price wise either for craft beer, just over a tenner for a pint (4.8%) and a 2/3 pint (6% Norwegian IPA). I'll be back here for sure. They open for breakfast too, Costa should be worried if the...

Currency used onboard cross border trains and buses.

Only on cross border routes surely? Can't imagine Sterling being accepted on a Cork-Dublin service, though I'll happily be proven wrong.

Worth a visit? Thinking of popping in later

Four elderly ladies thrown off Northern train

I can beat that! Once watched a ferry depart. Only for one of the deck staff to run inside and the ship to reverse back to the dock to pick up a late arriving van.

    London to Istanbul mid March

Where and how did you book that, out of interest?

Difficulty booking Day Ranger tickets at Cardiff Queen St

I doubt that many ranger tickets are sold in the grand scheme of things. I remember being at Manchester Oxford Road once, the guy infront of me bought a ranger then I went and bought a completely different rover. I bought a two zone North Wales rover at Chester about 10 years ago. The clerk I...

TPE guard making claim regarding ticket validity

I've used a day return for a journey of over 200 miles before now. I won't say where as it's a good value ticket I'd rather not draw too much attention to. It's not a routing guide loophole or anything, it's a proper point to point ticket.

    Caledonian Sleeper

Take it from me finding out the hard way, they won't! The ex Mallaig itself bring late due to being held for a late running CalMac ferry.

Try getting on a Dublin Bus without cash though.

    Special Offers Discussion

I'm thinking of getting a couple of Interrails in this sale. Is there likely to be a better sale within the next 12 months or so? I've never really looked at the sales before.

    Dispatch Baton

I got told years ago that the "other" side (ie. The side that isn't being shown to the conductor/driver/other dispatcher) was black as opposed to any other colour as it doesn't reflect light. Is there any truth in that or something someone just made up!

Grand Central Cleethorpes - Kings Cross - Application to ORR

Could think of worse things than missing a connection and having to spend the best part of an hour in The Draughtsman, along with it being a free trip though!

The rapid rise of fare dodging in Switzerland

Plenty of stories like this in the Disputes & Prosecutions thread from this country to be fair.
