    Porto & the Douro Valley

Hello, I'm off to Portugal next month, specifically Porto with the intention of bashing the Douro valley. I was wondering if anyone here knows of any freight or special movements that regularly happen on the line. I'm aware of the passenger timetable already, and the weekend historic trains...

Lithuanian Railways - What to look out for?

I'm arriving in Lithuania today by rail from Poland, and I'm wondering what interesting rolling stock I should be on the lookout for. As far as I'm aware, locomotive hauled services are back with refurbished coaches on the Klaipeda services, so might try and get a bash on them. Would anyone...

    SNCF Photography Policy

I'm heading down to Paris on the Eurostar on Wednesday, and i plan on videoing and photographing some French trains, so i was just wondering what SNCF's photography policy was. I couldn't find anything on their website, and i'd rather find out so i don't end up being kicked off a station. Thanks.

Thanks for the information and answering my question. I suppose in a way its similar to how 3rd rail electrics can store electricity for traveling over complex point work where there is no 3rd rail.

I frequently use the Tyne and Wear Metro and I found out about the two battery locks they have a while ago. However, I have since noticed that they have pantographs, presumably tof work off the overhead lines. I am just wondering why thy have these if they are battery locks or why they are...
