    Trainee Train Driver Pre-Employment Referencing

Well I'm a driver, I can tell you that my references weren't completed prior to starting on the railway and that was only 2 years ago. I know this as my previous employer told me.

Ex police as Train Drivers - Benefits

You sound like me. And I too as well as many echo your cynicism. Much happier, no regrets and even though getting up some mornings at silly o'clock, the work love balance is so much better on the railways than in the job. In fact some of my old colleagues seem to think i don't do any work...

    Arrogance at a level crossing.

You misinterpreted. The Dashcam footage is in essence what many still refer to as CCTV.

    Arrogance at a level crossing.

It's CCTV. It will be used for the purpose of detecting a criminal offence. Few offences there. Good thing about traffic offences is they tend to be black and white. I sense a charge of dangerous driving coming on.

Some guidance, before I waste my own (and other people's) time.

I'm ex cop. Don't do it for the money only. You are still accountable. Things will go wrong and you will be under scrutiny, like your old job. Yes you work shifts as a copper and I remember 25 hour days etc but the shifts can be very tiring, starting before 4AM one week then not finishing...

    Qualified driver jobs abroad....

Oz if you have PR. Driving isn't on the SOL. Can get sponsored but as people can be recruited fairly easy in the home country chances are now fairly slim.

    UK to Australian train Drivers

You'll need sponsoring as it isn't on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). Reason being is that they can get the required vacancies filled by people living there already. The mining boom is slowing down as the demands from China and India aren't as big as it has been. What did you do before...

What did you do before becoming a Train Driver?

Retail, care work, radio & tv industry, policing, train driver. Very much enjoying work life balance, apart from those real pesky early shifts. No one likes getting up at 2.30 AM!

    Police route to train driver

Leroy, use your investigative powers and if not already done so, search the forums for coppers making the jump.

Flexible workin whilst being a train driver

The question asked by yourself is in regards to your ex partners working arrangements and is more to do with your personal circumstances due to potential conflict between yourselves? You need to be cautious as to views offered by others here may give you a biased view and potential further...

    Firefighter looking at career change

Amen bruv. No job like it for taking over. I went in one Monday morning and spent 2 weeks away from home. Couldn't even tell my other half why. Ok I got paid but I missed out on a stag do which had been planned months ahead.

    MMI choosing answers

Use recent examples, easier to recollect and its all in your head. Typical trumpton over thinking it, must have kept you awake during your night shift.... I think you can guess which emergency service I used to work for Dave :-)

    Australia train driving

It isn't on the skilled occupation lost (SOL). Certain occupations such as nurses, doctors, solicitors etc are on that list. Depending on their shortages it can change. For example 10 years ago hairdressers were on that list. At this time you won't be able to go over, unless you could...

    Police Officer to Train Driver

Ages fella. Initial application 2011. However could never get dates off for assessments. 2013 applied, early 2014 assessments, interview July 2014. Started Nov 2014. You need the patience of a saint!

    Police Officer to Train Driver

Done the same. 11 years in the job. Was a great career, until May and Winsor ruined it. Im a driver now, recently qualified and very happy.

    Trains blocking level crossings?

There's no signal at the end, just an old physical brick bridge so no room to extend the platform beyond 8 cars.

    Driving jobs in Australia

Nice one. You made it. As a printer in 2003 you were a commodity. Time moves on however and the SOL does not list train driver. I'd say check the list, you may have a previous recent career that you can use. I talk from experience, I wanted to move but couldn't as my career wasn't on the...

    Driving jobs in Australia

If it's not on the SOL then you won't get in, an NVQ won't help. A company can look to sponsor however they need to show that they have attempted to employ citizens without luck and that the skills required are in short demand. In the case of this occupation chances are it'll be filled...

    Final salary pension

Your friend may be one of the protected ones. The police pension has changed and is now career average. Only officers within 10 years of retirement will keep final salary status. One of the reasons I left and joined the railway
