    Non-digital station signs

No, our customer information system was upgraded to a whiteboard, but since the electronic screens have appeared it has gone. (Although a little one on wheels appears during disruption quite often.)

"Advance Ticket only valid at a different time if endorsed"

I always used to get it marked/authorised by stations when time allowed, but then I had EC staff at London Kings Cross try to take my ticket off me and give me a ticket to Peterborough only (my destination was Spalding) and that I would have to sleep on the station until the next day as I had...

Delay repay compensation and split ticketing

I disagree with the points about having your cake and eating it. Part of the problem is that advance fares are so arbitrary. For example, I can get a cheap ticket advance purchase ticket from Peterborough to Spalding, but only by splitting tickets as cross country do not allow advance purchase...

    Barrhill station: risk of prosecution?

Or they intend passengers to sue the alternative access map shown on the map to reach platform 1, rather than the barrow crossing. It is odd that stations made easy doesn't even acknowledge the existence of platform 1. At Spalding we have a barrow crossing which is available to the public...

The State Of Rail Travel In Lincolnshire

The lack of opening of signal boxes and vast number of gates which are manually operated from Spalding to Sleaford is one reason why we apparently have such a poor service between the two, so this is the time that it should be looked at as the Joint Line upgrade is seeing this section controlled...

The State Of Rail Travel In Lincolnshire

The 16:01 from LCN to PBO is also often chronically overcrowded on Saturday's. More often than not when I have used this train people have been left on the platform - this is a significant problem as the next train is not one hour later but 40 hours later (i.e. on Monday) for Spalding...

The State Of Rail Travel In Lincolnshire

With respect to the (Doncaster) - Lincoln - Peterborough service: As a Spalding resident we really could do with a better service. The town is growing and has a population of 28,722 (2011 census). The extension of the services into the evening would be very useful and a later service ideal as...

Hawthorn Bank Level Crossing, Spalding - barriers up

I believe that no-one was in attendance for quite a long time as there were cars ignoring the lights almost continuously.

Hawthorn Bank Level Crossing, Spalding - barriers up

This is in our local paper (http://www.spaldingtoday.co.uk/news/latest-news/fault-leaves-train-crossing-barriers-in-upright-posistion-1-4572689). How exactly does this work? Is the train brought to a halt at the previous signal and then cautioned that it must check the crossing is clear...

    Latest NW crossing campaign

In my experience Manton do not ask for a call back when pedestrians only are crossing (and I wouldn't expect them to). The crossing I have used many times just north of Wing has a sign to specifically say that pedestrians may use the telephone to check if it is safe to cross.

    carriage without lights

I've been on an East Coast HST with no lights in our carriage. Eventually I went to ask the guard as there had been no announcement; she came down and was surprised. Someone had caught a light switch in the vestibule and everyone had been in darkness for over half an hour as a result!

Will Be Sad To Say Goodbye To East Coast In 2013

I agree that their customer service leaves a lot to be desired at times; their staff at London told me it was tough that I could not get home that day (at 7pm) as I had missed the last train connecting to my destination (even when I repeatedly explained that I was late as my previous train was...

Disruption on Minffordd - Spalding journey on split tickets

Hi I have now a had a reply and some more vouchers, so evidently London Midland has listened and considered. It was actually a very nice letter and so I am now happy. Thank you very much for your help on here. JP347

    National rail map

The East Coast service looks like it is meant to be the steam service summer service from Mach to Port/Pwh as it has the correct route and calling pattern for that, so it is in the wrong colour or that colour is slightly different to the ones in the key.

Disruption on Minffordd - Spalding journey on split tickets

Hi I have now heard back from LM re Delay Repay: Dear ...... Thank you for writing to us with regards to your journey between Birmingham New Street and London Euston on 12 April 2012. I am sorry to hear that the journey did not go as planned. I can understand your disappointment at the...

Disruption on Minffordd - Spalding journey on split tickets

I don't believe Peterborough had been contacted by LM (as LM were unaware that it was causing a connection problem for me - rather speak to them I legged it from Euston to Kings Cross in the hope of it being a couple of minutes late and therefore getting it). Peterborough called someone and...

Thanks - I have submitted a delay repay form to LM as I was 1 hour and 6 min late at Spalding.

Disruption on Minffordd - Spalding journey on split tickets

Hi I've had a good look around the forum and found lots of opinions on this, but one thing I haven't found much about is what if the delay results in the last train being missed. On Thursday 12/4/12 using 3 tickets: MFF-BHM depart 10:02 arrive 14:26 (on time) BHM-Euston depart 16:33...

    Busy First/Last Trains

1603 Lincoln Central-Peterborough on a Saturday - has often been one carriage and many left behind - anyone for Spalding then has to take train to Newark, Peterborough and back up to Spalding.
