I see in the cab of Networker Class 465s that there is a key switch to enable coupling with Class 319 units. Did this ever happen in practice and under what circumstances?

That'll be 1S30 1310 Victoria to Dover which then becomes 2R99 1524 Dover to Faversham via Ramsgate. At Faversham it joins 1P52 1618 Dover to Victoria. The 1310 is just advertised as going to Dover at Victoria.

I suppose that's like the SE service from Charing Cross to Ramsgate and Ramsgate that splits at Ashford, one part goes to Ramsgate via Sandwich. At least SE have the sense to advertise it as a service to Ramsgate and Sandwich, even though both portions go to Ramsgate.

Some SE services still spilt on the down at Ashford, with one portion terminating and the other continuing to Dover Priory.

It could be possible that not everyone is returning on the same journey. Let's suggest one of the adults was returning on their own the day before the others. In that case, the discount would not apply.

What about the short length of track beneath the A228 roundabout just south of Halling, Kent. It was constructed to serve a nearby quarry and isn't attached to any line, but remains extant.

I don't own a dog and nor do I wish to, but in my experience the vast majority of dogs on trains keep put of the way and snooze through the journey. I've yet to meet a canine that plays loud music, leaves litter everywhere or is downright anti social.
