Having recently endured the railway option for this route (ok to Southampton, then a 2 car dmu packed to the proverbials), I‘m certain that I’m not the only one who would welcome a coach option.

I ended up stranded in Weymouth for a time today as a knock on from the Basingstoke incident. My reward was a non stop run to Bournemouth which I thoroughly enjoyed! Took 41 minutes.

As a bit of an Agatha Christie fan, I really like the idea of Miss Marple enjoying a jaunt on #22! I believe that only 2 others survive, the NRM owns #4 while #20 is under restoration at KESR.

Not sure how strict we are about the definition of “DMU”, but thought I would mention that GWR Diesel Railcar #22 gets a running day at Didcot Railway Centre on Wednesday 17th April. Personally I really love this vehicle!

What a fantastic job they have done! I do love a DMU in this livery, takes me right back to my teenage days on the North Wales Coast lines. These days I live a long way from KWVR, but must try to catch some rides in this unit. Wow!

Am I right in thinking that when the HSTs were introduced there were two qualified drivers in the cab, as part of an agreement with ASLEF and/or NUR?
