    Derailment near Grange Over Sands

If it was (which I doubt) it was doing an appalling job, as the golf club's greens have been flooded for months.

    Derailment near Grange Over Sands

I went past where the derailment was today with my daughter and she made the observation of " that's the first time I've been able to see the golf course in months. Every time I've come past its been underwater - it's like someone has pulled the plug out and all the water is draining away" (my...

    Derailment near Grange Over Sands

Here are a couple of pictures credited to Network Rail, from the Westmorland Gazette. The pictures aren't time/dated, but are possibly Sun 24th March (because of the sunshine !), or Mon 25th March From the Westmorland Gazette article " From tomorrow morning (Monday 25 March) train...

    Derailment near Grange Over Sands

Thank you for the additional post stuving. I didn't realise that my original link was paywalled, as I coud read it OK ! Something in that locale isn't right, as swathes of Grange Golf Course, which lie on the other side of the embankment have been underwater for months now (or have been every...

    Derailment near Grange Over Sands

This is an article from January 2023 for the adjacent area. https://www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/news/23259756.flooding-meathop-road-leaves-grange-golf-club-underwater/ If my memory serves me correctly, there are follow up articles relating to the same culvert, with various organisations not...

Loco hauled services operated by WCRC on the Windermere branch

.... As long as people spend a few £££'s whilst they're here, it keeps the area ticking over.

Loco hauled services operated by WCRC on the Windermere branch

I suspect that Mr Farrons PR machine** is working more efficiently than WCRC's PR machine ! **a large number of people think that PhotoBomb Farron has made a career out of getting personal credit for other peoples hard work. Maybe, perhaps, possibly, on this occassion, he has been very actively...

Loco hauled services operated by WCRC on the Windermere branch

A few of the local yokels aren't to keen on the noise/pollution, but most seem to be happy that a workable solution has been found.

Loco hauled services operated by WCRC on the Windermere branch

I work very closely to Kendal station and I've got a smile all over my chops every other hour when the driver of the 37 opens the taps and gives it some welly. Its been a LOT of years since I've heard trains arriving/departing Kendal station. Bravo Mr Farron - its a wonderful noise.

takethetrain.co.uk not working for a few days

True. Thankfully, to date, I've never failed to get the reservation where/when I want it. Plus, on the occassion where I missed asking for a reservation, they followed up my hopeful email request and managed to come up trumps for me. Now all that have to do is reintroduce the free MP3...

takethetrain.co.uk not working for a few days

In August, I'm taking a trip from Grange Over Sands to Cardiff. This is how the 4 different websites returned the identical fare search Southern £99.50 (incl ticking all permitted routes) RSH £99.50 (eventually reduced to £28 after I have inputted several 'via' stations through trial and...

Those 2 sites are still up for business/account holders, but TtT still doesn't have Ferdinand waving his little hand at me :( --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Quick update 10.42 -- Ferdinand's Back. TtT is up and running again :D:D

takethetrain.co.uk not working for a few days

I don't like the format and how the information is presented to me. I find TtT and SWTrains to be much more Scoobyfriendly - also, TtT will often present me cheaper options, but more indirect routes at the same time. From my previous bookings, I've also found TtT & the SWTrains style...

takethetrain.co.uk not working for a few days

My preferred ticket booking site www.takethetrain.co.uk isn't working and has been down for a few days - not a good scenario when you make your living from your website. Is anyone aware of this being the end of TtT ? It looks like I'll have to use Plan B, Southwest Trains - and stay away...

Is the Scotrail Bargain Berths webpage MIA or RIP

If it is, its a shame, as with the old site you could see at a glance what tickets were on sale for what date, rather than having to trawl through a day by day search.. As an aside, on the old sysyem, you had the option to 'click here' check if slower routes with cheaper tickets are available...

Is the Scotrail Bargain Berths webpage MIA or RIP

With Scotrail moving over to the new (improved ?) website, the Baragain Berths requests seem to be directed towats the (hideous) mixing deck. Is the Bargain Berths webpage MIA or RIP ? If its gone, thats a real shame as it perfoirmed a very useful function, for both the TOC and the custome.

Bargain Berth, absolute bargain fare available Euston - Fort William

It is a typo, it should have said 15th, sorry You're right, I hope that someone from here got it. The 16th is still up for grabs at £29. I can only go on a Friday night, which doesn't seem to come up as a Bargain Berth. £116 seems to be the Friday fare to Fort William, but £63ish is...
