I didnt know either but came across a post on another forum I am on that says apparently both were bought by Dale Winfield and 4002 was donated to the ELR. Also read elsewhere that parts from 4001 were used to reapir 4002. Someone else more knowledgeable may confirm or deny all this though...

Just to keep the thread updated. 623 had it's trolley pole fitted yesterday and after testing ran to the Lakeside end of the tramway shortly after 17.00 last night. Some more minor tweaks are needed, as well as crew training but 623 is on schedule to make it's intended debut on the 22'nd...

According to some of the comments on the Manchester Evening news site Metrolink owe the company money and that is why they are in administration and staff being laid off. Don't know how true that is though

In the case of the Corporation trams then Manchester, Salford, Stockport, Bury and Rochdale were all Red and Cream anyway. Stalybridge, Hyde, Mossley and Dukinfield were green and Oldham, Ashton and Hyde were Blue (I think). Could be the opportunity to make the trams quite colurful though.

Shame they aren't repainting it into Corporation Colours like Sheffield did with on of the Supertrams
