Swindon to Windsor & Eton Central

Traveling to and from Windsor tomorrow, is £28.60 the cheapest adult return ticket cost without any railcards? Sorry for the short notice.

    Linking FGW with the WCML

Is there a mechanism for First Group to propose a link between their GWML and WCML franchises? Paddington to Euston is not the easiest of transfers. Could Reading to Watford via the NLL work and what would it take to make the paths available? Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.

Justine Greening to be moved in forthcoming cabinet reshuffle?

The Daily Telegraph reports that Justine Greening may be moved in a forthcoming cabinet reshuffle. It is stated that her opposition to a third runway at Heathrow is the main reason. In spite of their manifesto pledge, the cabinet seems to be increasingly pro the third runway, especially when...

    Day trip from Edinburgh

I will be in Edinburgh with my wife and daughter in early August. Can anyone recommend a day trip by rail as I do not want to hire a car. Ideally, the trip would include some nice scenery and a circular route with one or two stops would be ideal.

Was Kings Cross - St Pancras ever considered for inclusion in Crossrail instead of Faringdon, for example?

LHR 3rd runway argument won't go away

With 70 business leaders writing to the Daily Telegraph urging the government to rethink its position, the 3rd runway argument just isn't going to go away. Personally, I think the government's dichotomy of policies is increasingly untenable. On the one hand they are, quite rightly, investing...

    Architects and Saabs

The is a very popular theory, or urban myth, that Saabs *were* only bought by architects. This was featured on Top Gear last Sunday. Now, I don't know anybody who drives a Saab, but then I don't know any architects. So, does anybody out there know a bona fide architect and do they drive a Saab...

    Bombardier vs Siemens

Within this forum, I get the impression that railway 'insiders' much prefer Siemens over Bombardier. So, is it really true that Siemens universally makes better rolling stock or is there some superior Bombardier stock out there?

    Swindon.

Now, there are things I do like about Swindon. Its overall size, location and transport links. I live in a new house with good surroundings, open spaces, schools, playgrounds and bus services. But after 10 years living here I feel the need to have a rant! It's not the fact that where Supermarine...

    Linked stations on the Underground.

There is an increasing number of 'linked' stations on the LUL map. For example, White City/Wood Lane and Bank/Monument. Are there any other less obvious examples? I am not sure what LUL considers acceptable as "walking distance".

    Euston to Glasgow.

I am traveling to Glasgow in June with my wife and daughter. With easyjet being so cheap, how do I convince my other half that we are better off going by train? Any advice on fares welcome. I would anticipate traveling off peak and staying for two or three nights.

    Marlow and Henley-on-Thames branches.

Once Crossrail is completed, I understand that Greenford services will terminate at West Ealing. Are there any planned changes to the Marlow and Henley branches? With paths into and out of Paddington at a premium, what kind of service (frequency/rolling stock) are we likely to see?

    HST statistics.

A few questions here. Not intended to form a lengthy debate. How many HST sets were built? How many remain in service today? Any ideas on how much mileage they have done?

    Ups and Downs.

On any particular route or diagram, what are the rules that govern whether it is an 'Up' or 'Down' service?

    Chiltern at Paddington

The Chiltern Railways route map shows "occasional services" to London Paddington. What is the nature of these services?
