Sounds like someone is rather bedded to the railway system. This forum has both consumers like me, and vested interests, like yourself.

Typical railway pricing. Imagine walking into a supermarket and being told a chicken breast is £2, but if you buy a bunch of celery with it, you might just get it for £1.80 so long as you walk through the tills between 4pm and 5pm. Fricking stupid.

Why does the 4:57pm Northern Rail train to Doncaster which misses out 2 stops have to go so slow compared to the usual trains? :| People on this train usually overheat and it's a real bad example of commuter trains. :(

Just refuse to show your ticket until the windows are opened - I did this last summer and got what I wanted. :)

"Every morning on my train a group of about 6 commuters board the train which is quite busy" Quite busy does not imply no other seats. Now I know some people like a table seat next to the aisle, but unless you make a reservation you can not just demand your favourite seat upon boarding.

Usual kind of pricing on our trains really. i can't think of another industry which does this kind of pricing but I am willing to be corrected.

Both are correct. It's just different accents. I'd probably say something in between. However Bath is correct, yet Baaaaaaaaaath is incorrect. There is only one "a", as in cap, tan bat, tap, and so many other words.

I know delays due to "collision" are relevant for discussion, but sometimes it may just be that a quick referral to a diversion is all that is needed? I like to visit these forums but it puts me off as most/every times I visit that there is an announcement of some misfortune or other.

Worse train route in the country IMO. I think the one to rival it is Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth, 2 carriages every 2 hours for a busy tourist/student route.

So those who get involved in preventing danger to the public should not be paid, while the guards who are paid run into the toilets?

They will have received training which helps remove them from danger.
