Lack of Advanced 1st Tickets Scotrail

Seems a bit if a crazy argument.....get more 1st class capacity so that you can get a 1st class advance!!!!!! The whole point about Advance tickets is to fill empty seats....why would any train company want to get bigger trains in order to offer seats at a huge loss....totally mad business plan!

Lack of Advanced 1st Tickets Scotrail

fsr do not offer 1st class advance.....as suggested there is not much capacity ...often not enough for those paying full fare...You can get 1st plus connections on east coast though.

Advance tickets with seperate reservation coupons

What nonsense! The Advance tickets could not be clearer...they state VALID WITH RESERVATIONS ONLY also 1 of 2 (or however many reservations you need for any changes). Honestly these tickets are ridiculously cheap and I get more complaints from people using them than those who travel on the full...

    ScotRail Advance

Yes you are right - just looked at the website- but this whole thing is obviously open to fraud if anyone can put any number in and get membership even when not entitled to so Scotrail need to look at this to tighten up the way they check out peoples entitlement to join!

    ScotRail Advance

But if you sit in First Class on Weekends you will have to have your season ticket/flexipass ticket to accompany the Advance card! One for the F&S dept to look into if it is that easy to fraudulantly obtain methinks!

    Split Ticketing with Anytime Tickets...

If you ask for split tickets altogether for one journey that is not a problem you are quite entitled to! A lot of our BO staff will advise if they know it is cheaper. However please ensure that you ask if the trains you are catching stop at the stations you are splitting at because you will be...

Trains are a rich man's toy, says transport secretary

Certain routes are heavily subsidised to the extent that it is cheaper to catch the train than the bus......I have a mix of people on my trains, schoolchildren, students, neds, football fans, workers, unemployed, pensioners (rich and poor), businessmen, leisure travellers......to be honest I...

Travel on earlier train than booked

The scenario there is obviously an exceptional one and something that happened on the railway messed up your day out. What I would suggest you had done though would be to go to the booking office or person in charge of the station as soon as you arrived and asked if there was any way due to what...

Travel on earlier train than booked

The inference was in on KentonCanary's post that the guard should have bowed to their wishes and they were nasty for not doing so and that they then went specifically looking for a certain type of person who would be more likely to give in to them ie 'middle aged with wedding ring' I was merely...

Liability if unable to board due to overcrowding

I was referring to tickets which have e.g. route ec only and people think ok to get onboard say xc train....I am aware most tickets are any route! I thought questioner was presuming ok to get on any train with any ticket.

Travel on earlier train than booked

I am a middle aged guard with a wedding ring and I would not have let you on...I would have referred you to the booking office if you had time and there was one to see if it could be changed. This is purely because it is not fair on others who may have wanted to get an advance either for the...

Re Advance tickets and missed trains

When you say you aim to catch trains to arrive at St Pancras earlier than intended do you mean you intend to travel on an earlier train than your booked one? if so that is not allowed. If a connection is missed you are entitled to catch next available service as long as a late train caused the...

Liability if unable to board due to overcrowding

Would Asda send you over to sainsburys to pay if their checkouts were full? Why do people think it is OK to travel with a ticket only valid for one specific TOC on another TOCs train?

Can I use an anytime return more than once?

We have to initial them with pen...clippers environmentally unfriendly plus cause probs if done on the black strip for gateline purposes. we are not issued with date stamping punch.

Flight late arriving - advanced ticket

I'm sorry but I totally disagree with you on this one! An Advance ticket is a quota ticket ..a certain amount per train and if you travel on a train you are not booked on how is that fair to the person sat next to you who wanted an advance but couldn't get one due to the quota being used up...

    Query on seat reservations

The usual reasons for there being no reservations are that the printer has broken, train in too late, change of train at last minute, different train than one reservations made out for which is possibly why someone in an earlier post saw the guard taking them off as if station staff attempt to...

    1st Class Glasgow - Edinburgh

I always give an announcement leaving a major station advising if certain tickets are not valid so that if a passenger with e.g. an xc only ticket stays onboard they really have no excuse to be surprised at being charged again! It is basically theft because if a passenger is using a ticket...
