    Class 373 Eurostar withdrawals

Hi, I was talking about the 373s recently when the NOL sets came up it was said that they are still in store in France. Of the 3 three capital sets that were SNCF owned on domestic routes two have been scrapped or are close to it (derelict) and one was acquired by Eurostar and is in cross...

    Refurbished Eurostar?

I presume you mean withdrawn from SNCF service? I can only see Eurostar being interested in SNCFs few full length sets if they needed a stop gap measure, the NOLs being shorter would be a headace. Although I think the full lengths are owned independently by SNCF and have had nothing to do with...

    Refurbished Eurostar?

Any ideas why this set was out of use for over a decade? By all accounts it was only damaged in a single part of the 18 coach train and in a fairly minor way? I think the spare parts set at temple mills is a half set of the spare NOL, the other half is in France fulfilling the same purpose.

    Refurbished Eurostar?

Hasn't this first to be refurbished set been out of service for the majority of its life? Maybe that's a factor adding to the delays. I am looking forward to seeing the updated 373 and the Valero when it comes into service.

    Self Dispatch from Voyagers

GNER didn't allow the Train Guards to use that option why they had the NOL sets, local door had to be closed before the RA was given as per MK4s. It would probably be a concern to the guards/nearby passengers safety.

    Heritage Railway Speed Limits

With the exeption of a few MK2 E/F rakes, very few of the mainline charters have CDL fitted and they run at higher speeds so I fail to see why it would be a factor in preservation lines going faster.

    Crosscountry Voyager Refurbishments?

A full interior refurbishment is something along the lines of "Mallard" or the HST overhaul at FGW. New carpets etc is merely a refresh. The voyagers could do with a large overhaul....

    East Coast IEP Electric Option

I don't think a seated DVT is likely at all. The refurb plans showed the kitchen in the DVT with the buffet still in its same position meaning the current kitchen area could potentially be the relocated Guards office and luggage area. There was also the option for a totally re engineered cl91...

East Coast to hire two Class 90s?

A additional EMT power car is on loan to EC, The 91s are still techically capable of 140mph (as stated on the side of hem) contrary to popular rumour that they were modified/re-geared to 125 running during the mallard job, never happened however as most others have pointed out its very...

Customer Service Assistants (on board) vacancies KINGS CROSS & LEEDS

That's not really a great way to look at it if your looking to get into the railway world. There are ex CSAs that are now now guards, drivers, and managers.

    HST Trailers

AFAIK ECs five spares are 2x TFs a TGS, 2 TS and a Buffet which is virtually never used as its different in many ways to the rest, could be wrong though.

IEP: 26 metres is too long

I have it on good authority that they will be Driver Realease, Guard Close like most other UK recent stock (excepting voyagers) including the 395s which is what most were expecting. I am also told there are designs for both plug and pocket doors.

    'SkyFall' EC 91007

Correct, From a very trusted source with many years experience the pantograph has to not only be locked OOU but physically tied down with clips etc to go through Sunderland because of the limited clearance but also to avoid any accidental contact with T&W metro OHLE. Probably why it's not a...

    Tyne and Wear Metro

I'm totally confused as to why four sets aren't being refurbished. The prototypes went through the first major refurb with no issues, "heritage value" is nonsense. There's no reason why they can't continue in service then be preserved when the whole fleet is retired. Say hello to a lower fleet...

    Scrapped/Preserved Mark 3 Coaches

I know some of the MK4s from Hatfield were withdrawn from traffic until they were refurbished with Mallard interiors, so a few years.

    Eurostars fleet?

It was a fairly minor incident so I'm surprised the sets been out for nigh on 13 years. I don't dispute that it's returning to traffic but you can guarantee the cost wll be astronomical.

    Eurostars fleet?

Would that not cost a lot more than its worth? Hasn't that set been a spare parts donor for about 12 years. Surely it would make more sense to poach SNCFs 3C 373s.
  19. B

    Eurostars fleet?

They've always been allowed through as solo units (two half sets). I don't think 373s are permitted/passed to run coupled together unless it's an emergency drag, certainly not at 186mph, so as TGV says I doubt that was ever an option.
  20. B

    Eurostars fleet?

It's not that simple, in the current set up Eurostar have a standardised fleet of 373s with identical configurations. If you then throw NOLs into the mix it reduced simplicity for thing like set swaps etc. Are you sure about the tunnel? GNER used to send the NOLs through the tunnel to le...
