    GWR Class 800

Yes, I'd noticed this the other day. I noticed (at PAD) that some IETs were clean and others, as you say, filthy, but I didn't clock if there was any difference in class or destination/working.

    GWR Class 800

I was guessing this had been resolved some time ago as 1P12 [05:28 Hereford > Paddington] was--until this week--a 9-car IET since early July (barring the two-week suspension during the Oxford works mid-July)

    GWR Class 800

Thanks. Certainly looks from JourneyCheck that the HSTs are being drafted in and 2x5-car IETs are being split to release 5-car units to cover where 9-cars aren't available.

    GWR Class 800

1P12 [05:28 Hereford > Paddington] has been an HST Monday & Tuesday this week, having been a 9-car IET for the previous two weeks. Any idea what the issues are?

Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia - Any Recommendations?

Having done the Budapest <=> Belgrade recently ... I wouldn't recommend it. I took the 'Ivo Andri' service both ways, though there I believe there is another service ('Avala') which I think might be more sophisticated (e.g. restaurant car). I have to say it was the least interesting rail...

    Lille Loophole

Just what I was thinking. I used to use Eurostar a lot in the late 90s (London<=>Paris), and in those days the passport checks Paris=>London were done by UKPA staff on the train. Not sure why this changed, but with a system like that you have--by definition--a captive audience, and if it were...

Ivo Andri - Budapest <=> Belgrade - power points?

MAV - just two carriages on that train that make it all the way from Budapest to Belgrade (the train splits somewhere with—I think—two others going—I think—to Zagreb). Have to say, that train goes so slowly, especially through northern Serbia – I'm sure it was rolling along at around 30mph...

Ivo Andri - Budapest <=> Belgrade - power points?

I can now answer my own question, have just got off the service. The seating is in compartments, and does have power points: they're on the bulkhead beside each window seat, and usually hidden by the curtain :) Looks like it's work for me on Thursday, in that case – the book will have to wait...

Ivo Andri - Budapest <=> Belgrade - power points?

How about this for esoteric: does anyone know if the Ivo Andri train between Budapest and Belgrade has at-seat power points in 1st class? I'm doing the return journey in a week or so, and could do with knowing if I'll be able to work on the laptop, or whether a I'll be better off with a book and...
