    Unusual objects carried onto trains

I saw a plastic full sized bath tub once, I think on a Meridian. I've taken computers and servers as others have mentioned. I was once involved in a rather abstract stage production about the Underground, and one section listed items allegedly conveyed on the Tube. The only one that...

    Cambridge to Derby via Stevenage

And? Intercity 125s/225s are so much nicer/quieter than both 170s and 158s :-)

    Cambridge to Derby via Stevenage

OK, so now I'm back at a computer, it does look less realistic, besides, the Routeing Guide won't permit it anyhow. I did, however, change and do the PBO-GRA leg in both directions on East Coast. Although this did mean having to change an extra 2 times, and the return journey got me to Derby...

    Cambridge to Derby via Stevenage

Well my original itinerary was Cambridge, Ely, Nottingham. I can appreciate it taking longer via Stevenage, however it would mean I could travel on a nice HST rather than a Sprinter family. My ticket is 'not via London' rather than 'via Ely' too.

    Cambridge to Derby via Stevenage

Hi all. I'd look this up myself but don't have a computer available. Is anyone able to find out whether the return portion of a Derby to Cambridge not via London off peak return would be valid via Stevenage? I've briefly read about easement 700070, however would this be useful in this scenario...

    Special Offers Discussion

I do have a rewards account, and also received that email. I've had a fairly good look at journeys between Edinburgh and London, and Leeds and London, but can't seem to get anything to come up other than the usual fares. I must be doing something wrong somewhere.. Maybe I'll just have to...

    Special Offers Discussion

Does anyone know how to get this? The offer page says it's not available to the general public until tomorrow, however I'm signed in yet can't figure out how to book it yet. It doesn't seem to show up on the journey planner.

Getting to Derby sooner via WCML

Thanks for the replies. We got there eventually, missed the bus and got a taxi. I'll add more detail of what happened in the morning!

Getting to Derby sooner via WCML

Hi all. There's 3 of us travelling together, and we were planning to get the 1855 from St Pancras, getting off at Derby. This was cancelled and an EMT person recommended using the WCML and changing at Birmingham New Street, so we got the 1943 to Wolverhampton from Euston. (as the problem still...

    Special Offers Discussion

You have to click the link in the email, and go right through the booking process until you're just about to pay. Then a page with one field in appears asking for the code. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Has anyone had the email through for this yet?

One assumes that when they announced it, there was only a certain number of golds we could have won.

Aha. That could be why I had problems getting an itinerary up there then! Thanks!

    Derbyshire to West Highland Line

Hi all, I am beginning to plan a short trip in July or August with my father, mainly focussing on doing the West Highland Line. We'd be starting from somewhere in Derbyshire (probably Derby or Buxton), and I'm thinking we could get some other "nice" lines in, for example the Settle-Carlise, or...

Northern Rail: No ticket machine - accused of fare evasion

One of the "features" of vBulletin is that by default you only receive one email when a new post arrives in a thread. If you just read the post in the email then delete it with out visiting the forum, you don't receive any more. I don't know whether this has happened in this case.

    University, expectations? Dissapointment?

I'm a final year engineering student, and I think overall my course has been good, however I would say I benefited most from the industrial placement - if anyone has the opportunity to do one, I would highly recommend it. I have just about had enough of education though! People ask whether...

    Computer Games (PC Only)

Play on and off: Counter-Strike: Source, GTA San Andreas (multiplayer mod), Empire Earth. Pretty rubbish at all of them! In progress: Half Life 2. Have completed Portal and Portal 2, but occasionally dip in to the advanced maps/challenges.

    Family taking an interest

My father had an interest in trains and buses when he was younger. I can't really say this is a proper hobby for me at the moment, more of an interest, but when I told him about the forum and a recent trip, he was over the moon, and the first thing he did was take me on the Ecclesbourne Valley...
