Network Rail has more managers than Ops staff...

You realise there is a lot more to NR (and even Ops) than just signallers, right?

    Southeastern - Timetable change

CharingX interlocking is still RRI/WestPAC (the area that failed the other day, not the Country end stuff covering Waterloo - London Bridge), was the interlocking replaced like for like under Thameslink then? I know it’s due for renewal in the next few years. I know Cannon St was ’relocked’...

    Southeastern - Timetable change

Slight pedantry, signalling at Charing X was never replaced, and is still the original stuff installed in the 60s (?). Everything between the buffers and Waterloo East is “old”

Why would a signal fail to clear?

Module failure Junction indicator / theatre box lamp proving failure A relay fault, if so equipped.

Network Rail makes new offer to the RMT union

Settle something for me. I often hear the line “all maintenance will be done on nights, there will be no S&T/Pway etc fault teams etc (I don’t know enough about what their “teams” are or consist of) How much truth is behind this? A lot of signallers are truly against this, for obvious reason. I...

    Unite Network Rail Strikes Off

From your side, what are the ‘negative’ maintenance changes? We keep hearing about working more nights etc, but reading that and the NR released proposal it looks the same? (I’m NR, RMT by the way) Feel free to PM if better

    Unite Network Rail Strikes Off

Sorry, despite my terribly worded message, that’s the exact point I was trying to put across. They use drones, all sorts of new tools and technology. Painting the RMT as “anti modernisation” isn’t right, they just want it done right

    Unite Network Rail Strikes Off

I don’t think anyone denies some modernisation needs to happens. Even the RMT has said they are happy to modernise (afterall, it’s not like maintenance hasnt changed at all in the past 20 years) But I guess the issue is, the RMT want it on their terms. I’m just not sure what those terms are...

    Unite Network Rail Strikes Off

Sorry, I stupidly assumed only the RMT would be affected by the MM stuff.. I do wonder what the next stage is, NR are evidently determined to get MM done. RMT are evidently thoroughly opposed to it. It seems NR are going to ‘bulldoze’ it through regardless? Which means if the RMT are not very...

    Unite Network Rail Strikes Off

Remember, RMT are also fighting the “Modernising Maintenance” cuts which most of the other unions (as far as I can see, are not and it’s a ‘straight forward’ pay talk)

TGV signalling - how is the driver informed of their actual route?

ETCS can send messages to the drivers DMI describing what route is set at a signal.

    December 2022 Timetable Changes

seems the 2L** and 2A** have returned, but going to Cannon St

    Underload SPADS & Stadler 745EMU/755BMU

If done properly it will, but I fear it won’t be (hence my emphasis!) I don’t wish anything upon drivers by saying that, but ATO (with a driver in a cab still) does bring benefits

    December 2022 Timetable Changes

I have a concern you may be wrong! The via Woolwich trains are in for the peak, but not the off peak… I have notice the 1/2H** to Chrx have disappeared, at least off peak. Looks like they are in for the peaks again.

    December 2022 Timetable Changes

I do agree, but then the peaks the 2L/2M reappear so now you are conflicting more over both. Hmmm

    December 2022 Timetable Changes

Doesn’t this just move the issue to Tanners Hill? Can’t see any 2O/I services in the TT either

    Railway Industrial Disputes Mk2

“Railway workers do not need breaks through the day, how archaic is that!!”

    Railway Industrial Disputes Mk2

Grant Shapps has let out a belter of a tweet. It could be his “chief twitterer” has misunderstood the instruction, he’s being a bit hyperbolic, or he really wants to smash T&Cs… Archaic that staff have to VOLUNTEER to work on their days off, and they can’t be forced? If you take that tweet on...

Wasn’t aware of that, so thanks a lot.

"Covid rising in England" - let's stop the fear mongering

Where do the reports on positive covid cases get their numbers from? A lot of people I know in the past few weeks have caught covid (and just got on with it), but only a few tested, and no one certainly reported it. My point being, a lot less people are testing now, nevermind reporting their...
