Can anyone confirm that I just heard a class 20 or 40 going past my flat at 17:15 en route to Crewe from Edinburgh? I thought it was a 37 at first, but the whistle was definitely distinctive. Thanks.

Just curious,,I am under the impression that railfreight is no longer permitted over the Forth bridge? Therefore if freight comes down the ecml, it has to go via Perth and Stirling?

Sounds exactly as I expected.

You'd have thought that they'd either sell the lot for development or retain it,and use it for a small scale distribution yard like Needlefield in Inverness. I'd prefer they kept it, realigned the Portobello junction and used the rest as a small scale container transfer/distribution yard.

Reviving this thread. Had a letter yesterday from Network rail with regard to the thread topic. Revised dates are 06/06/20 to 09/06/20! Seems that the planned work was cancelled on the original dates given and have been moved to this weekend until Tuesday morning.

There are rumblings in another thread which is sort of related about 68's and coaches on the Fife circle. I think sadly we've seen the last of that service running the 68's. In reply to a previous post where I stated I thought the coaches would go for preservation or scrap,, I didn't consider...

I remember travelling that route when I was a wee boy,, getting home to Kilwinning when I used to live there seemed to take forever!! How times have changed!

That would be interesting to find out, but I'll wager it's delayed due to the global virus problem. It went quiet on a couple of locomotive tenders for DRS and ROG while ago.
