    Euro Star query

If you're travelling at the weekend (after 1900 on Fridays until Sunday evening) rail tickets in Belgium are also half price across the board.

Modern Railways GA piece this month

One seemingly attractive improvement would be a half hourly Cambridge - Norwich service. As I understand it that’s not possible due to the Ely junction. However, I see that GA are running a few relief stopping services from Norwich - Cambridge on GEML engineering work days. Albeit, the relief...

Lack of Exit stamps to cause problems?

Another perk of Brexit then ... I don't remember this being a problem when we were in the EU. And of course, it's good evidence of countries within the EU controlling their borders.

Could we see further journey time improvements on the London to Norwich route?

Are there any plans to speed up services given the superior performance of the 745s? For example, a few times now I’ve done Diss to Norwich in 15 mins. Since travelling regularly again I keep noticing the fact that an average journey time between Norwich to London is close to 2 hours now...

EU Referendum: The result and aftermath...

https://twitter.com/JuliaHB1/status/1171897495837925376 This Brexiteer logic really grinds me. I like blueberries, I like being able to buy them from the supermarket when I want, why would I want limit access something I currently have unlimited access too. Of course the problem gets more...

EU Referendum: The result and aftermath...

A similar thought process with myself. If the government had pushed for a softer Brexit, or even May's deal I would've likely have accepted it, bucked up and moved on. However the actions of those like the ERG, Johnson, and the Brexit media to call people such as myself 'traitors' or 'enemies of...

Poll: Potential General Election: who are you voting for?

A Remain Aliance (I hope) would offer a second referendum, giving an opportunity to stop Brexit, my primary motivation. Following on from this, we can assume two situations in the forthcoming (now imminent?) election: 1) Brexit Party and Conservatives enter some kind of non-aggression pact...

Poll: Potential General Election: who are you voting for?

I voted Labour in 2017, however personally I now prioritise stopping Brexit over the reformative policies Corbyn is offering. If Corbyn stood on a full second referendum and remain platform I would support him. It's the Lib Dems or Greens now for me, depending on who is likely to get a higher...

EU Referendum: The result and aftermath...

https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2019/08/the-remain-alliance-that-could-spoil-boris-johnsons-party/ A move towards a remain alliance, a good start to prevent the splitting of the vote as in the Euro elections!

UK TOCs to no longer accept Interrail passes from 2020 (decision now reversed)

Fantastic news, at a time when we are foolishly turning ourselves away from the continent i’m glad to see a small change in the opposite direction. Here’s to many more years of fellow Europeans (and global travellers) enjoying our railways.

Abellio Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

That would make sense. Hopefully we won't have to wait too much longer until the Intercity sets are out so we can see how they compare to the rural units.

Abellio Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

So i’ve just taken my first ride on the 12:36 Norwich - Great Yarmouth. First impressions is that they are a massive upgrade, not only for the rural lines but for the intercity too. The carriages are light, airy and spacious. The windows are very large, giving a much better view outside. The...

London to Norwich - 90 min timings

Norwich - Liverpool Street In 1 hour 26, the fastest i’ve ever done it. I was half expecting an early arrival fanfair like on Ryanair however fortunately not!

London to Norwich - 90 min timings

I'm currently on the 09:00 Norwich - Liverpool Street. The service was fairly well loaded from Norwich with approximately the same number of passengers joining again at Ipswich. 80% of the seats are now full in coach G. Passing through Diss and Stowmarket at speed was a treat, however both...

Abellio Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

During the video the person filming opens the setback table and there are two grooves running along from the cup storage. They look a little like they could be used to put your phone so it stands when watching a video. If this is the case Kudos to GA for that.

Abellio Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

Looking really good! They appear much more airy and light than they 3D simulations GA produced last year. I'm really looking forward to be able to travel on these.

    Greater Anglia Rolling Stock Updates

As I understand it in the early/mid 00s Great Yarmouth (And Cromer too) had direct trains to London operated by class 170s however due to low patronage these were removed. This then left the two summer saturday diagrams which were operated by the full Class 90 + DVT set under wires to Norwich...

    Greater Anglia Rolling Stock Updates

I like the look of the new trains, the FLIRTS especially are an upgrade for the rural network and the aventras seem similar to the stock on suburban servies right now. However only time will tell what they are like to travel on in real life
