    Sheffield - Meadowhall Fares

Thanks both. Have found that now on the Travel South Yorkshire website. Looks like the easiest way for me will be to buy it through the First Bus app so I'll give that a go. Cheers

    XC Voyager Refurbishment

This would look a heck of a lot better with yellow doors. Nowhere near as classy as the existing silver no matter what however

    Sheffield - Meadowhall Fares

Hi all, I thought I would ask here as despite much searching, I can't find the answer online. I'm traveling several times between Meadowhall and central Sheffield tomorrow. I see that there is a combined bus and tram day ticket available. Do I need to buy this in advance or can I tap on and...

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

I'm guessing these are all software / sensor issues that will be ironed out rather than mechanical failures? Have to say I am very much enjoying the 197s on my route (Cardiff to Cheltenham). In the two years I've lived in Lydney we have routinely had 170s, 158s, 150s, 153s, 175s and now 197s...

    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

Does this mean trouble ahead once the existing pay agreements expire if TfW haven't found a way of increasing revenue by then?

    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

Thanks - service reliability can't have helped with revenue over the last twelve months - the service through Lydney has been extremely stressful and frustrating to use. Hopefully as reliability improves, so will revenue.

    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

Posting again here as the duplicate thread was locked: Overall it looks like a marginal improvement for my service from Lydney (Cardiff - Cheltenham) but disappointing to see the evening improvements scrapped. What has driven these cutbacks? A rise in costs or a cut in funding? It...

TFW statement - Future timetable review

Overall it looks like a marginal improvement for my service from Lydney (Cardiff - Cheltenham) but disappointing to see the evening improvements scrapped. What has driven these cutbacks? A rise in costs or a cut in funding? It goes against Welsh Government's big targets to get people out of cars.

    Portsmouth Harbour-Cardiff Central GWR

Yes, decades. I was commuting between Bath and Southampton over ten years ago and inadequate two and three car 158s were the norm. The route has needed five car trains for decades.

    Portsmouth Harbour-Cardiff Central GWR

Can only hope it is the 175s. Over three hours on a fleet with dysfunctional air conditioning, no thanks! Whatever happens, the existing situation is an absolute disgrace and it beggars belief that it has been this way for decades.

Transport for Wales Cardiff Central - Cheltenham Spa

Oh that's a shame, CrossCountry are generally more reliable than TfW. I hope any future recast doesn't break connections towards Bristol at Severn Tunnel Junction, which currently rely on the CrossCountry services.

Transport for Wales Cardiff Central - Cheltenham Spa

Thanks, that make sense but do you know why it would be planned that way? It takes away any incentive to use the new TfW service.

Transport for Wales Cardiff Central - Cheltenham Spa

Have any of the new services actually run today? When commuting from Lydney via Severn Tunnel Junction this morning, the departure boards at both were confusingly showing the new services as delayed rather than cancelled. The timetable displays at Severn Tunnel Junction still contain the...

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

Yes, it is exactly the same staff doing the cleaning, filling the shelves, and being on the tills. Only the very largest stores have departmental roles nowadays and even then staff are expected to switch departments, with literally one minute's notice, as needed. It would not be unreasonable at...

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

These aren't separate job details, these are what all members of staff are doing at any given time based on how busy the shop is, when deliveries arrive, when promotions are changing etc. Imagine asking train drivers, who earn two-three times more than a supermarket worker, to be so flexible in...

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

Sorry, but I worked for Sainsbury's for seven years and it was instilled in absolutely every member of staff that they had a responsibility to grow sales: Warehouse staff ensuring products were in the right place to be located for the shop floor. Shop floor staff ensuring products were...

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Had my first ride on a 197 today, for a short trip between Severn Tunnel Junction and Lydney. Overall I was quite impressed, despite the copious amounts of litter strewn throughout. Pros and cons from my perspective- Pros: Bright modern design inside and out. They are fast, so much faster than...

    Class 175 future speculation

Exactly this. Not to mention the complete lack of fresh air inside at all times of the year as the ventilation system may as well not exist. Then the regular exhaust fumes inside, excruciatingly slow doors and passenger egress and access, engine noise, overly soft unsupportive seats (GWR) or...
