Irish Rail no services due to strike today

Just a brief comment on the 56k wages. Of the employees in that band 40% are on 36k and less. 56k is the max wage of a driver however many would be below this. Wages do need to drop but the Government are really screwing up to 60 million from IE per year in a free travel scheme. If it was...

Irish Rail - Stations under review

Just to point a few things out, no stations will be closed. The Limerick regional lines to Waterford and BallyB are the biggest risk but the reality is no stations will close unless those lines do. This media article made it into the independent because of a online discussion about Irish...

    Holyhead-Dublin/Dun Laoghaire Fast Ferries

You could squeese around an hour in Dublin before heading to the port. You can get the express bus form Busarras (BUS station) (accross from Connolly) which departs at 13.15 and is timetabled to make the 14.30 sailing., http://www.irishferries.com/Global/Offers/IF_bus_service_euro.pdf

    Irish Railways - Fencing requirement?

Would make no difference if the lights started flashing 2 or 3 minutes before the train came. People would still go across with seconds to spare.

    IE Starts Dundalk Mk3 Scrapping.

I don't think the final faith of the Mark3's is know at this stage, most for scrap but a couple may be kept not by IE though.

    IE Dart EMU class 8500 8510 8520

Sorry your correct, I have no idea why I posted those years as I had the correct ones like you and changed, one of those days. All 8500's are AC motors while 8100 are DC motors.

    IE Dart EMU class 8500 8510 8520

They are all DC. They are 18, 16, 14 years old respectably. Will see if I can dg out a source.

    0710 Waterford to Dublin Heuston

PC is a joke, IE have some cheek charging fares for it, cheap plastic seat covers and a small reading lamp. PC class is only well used on Tralee line for the means on the direct service, most other routes have next to nobody in them at all. It should be scrapped as having 1 carriage off...

    0710 Waterford to Dublin Heuston

I know one or two of the sets allowed up North were given the full logo from the start, if they are converting sets 1 to 4 into 4's then they should finish it. Surly it would make more sense not to convert the sets that can go across the border? Not that they will anytime soon.

    0710 Waterford to Dublin Heuston

so much for the special logo on sets 1 to 6.

    0710 Waterford to Dublin Heuston

You could have 071 or 201's but the general norm on Waterford is 071's and a mix on Dublin-Ballina IWT.

    0710 Waterford to Dublin Heuston

Yeah I know was referring to it as being 6 coaches usually 2 3 car sets and not just a full 6 but expect it will most likely be a 4 price.

    0710 Waterford to Dublin Heuston

7.10 is scheduled for a 6 piece set except Mondays when its a 3 piece. It could be any set these days but nest week it will be a 4 or 6 car set. Usually arrives on time but timetable on route isn't perfect. Quiet a few of the 22's in current size operate this as the last service to turn...

    Irish Rail ticket validity

It will cost you 56 euro on the day, the website shouldn't be showing those fares as they can't be booked. It will be 56 euro
