Where else in the UK could tramways/light rail be installed?

Brighton does strike me as ideal for trams (especially considering they had them many years ago) - plenty of people, lots of high-frequency bus routes (along key corridors) and a more green/future thinking city than most. However, the issue would be the lack of dedicated routes (ie, trams would...

Recommendations for an Eastern European country to visit for rail travel

Seconded, and a trip down from the Children's Railway on the Zugliget chairlift is not to be missed either. Hungary has a nice variety of stock, as well as trams (and trolleybuses if that's to your taste) and the scenery is wonderful too

    Stagecoach South & South East

"Pulse" makes sense to me, travels through the "heart" of Worthing, and regular (used to be every 10mins) "beats"

    Stagecoach South & South East

Yeah, I'm a paper-ticket kind of person (never trust my phone battery or signal when doing a proper "adventure" on the buses) and therefore am lucky in that the drivers dont notice the difference

    Stagecoach South & South East

I realise that they're two different companies, but I've never had an issue with using a MegaRider issued in Worthing not being accepted in say Hastings, and whilst it maybe been pre-pandemic, it certainly wasn't pre-2005 1712494334 In fact, I didn't even think until now that it wouldn't be valid

    Stagecoach South & South East

Yes, especially with Regency services now serving Hailsham/Eastbourne, Stagecoach are likely feeling a bit threatened in what they see as their turf
  8. TrainBoy98

    Stagecoach South & South East

True, but it's slightly more expensive, needs a paper ticket and a lot of drivers still don't seem to know how to issue one/if they accept it 1712395909 And MegaRider can have longer duration Vs Discovery

    Stagecoach South & South East

I'm divided on the 701 - on one hand, I feel it won't make too much of a dent in the 12/12A/12X due to their frequency; on the other hand, it finally fills in the gap for me to only need one ticket (MegaRider) to get anywhere along the coast

Controversial railway opinions (without a firm foundation in logic..)

How much are we thinking to build the Shinkansen? And would tickets need an additional fee for the privilege? If so, you'll likely have to keep a lot of the services because the price differential may put lots off, especially if their trip will now require a change.

Driver training time Bakerloo v Victoria line

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but why do the Central and H&C lines require this? The others I know share tracks with NR

Aslef strikes over Trains Modernisation plan

And to a lot of people "Modernisation" is synonymous with "closure" or "reduction" thanks to the BR "modernisation" plans

    June 2024 Timetable Change

They do empty out significantly at Reading, but loadings seem okay at Southampton and the airport, though I guess they would end up running into the capacity issue at Southampton for reversal/turnaround

*Facepalm* no of course it wouldn't, I always forget about Ryde tunnel

Southern timetable changes consultation Coastway West

That's the issue with Southampton, there's plenty of routes, competing operators, add freight too, and it's trying to do too much all at once. Sadly, some places therefore lose out

Had to break through unmanned barriers at Burgess hill tonight

GTR-land doesn't often make sense unfortunately... Worthing has a small gate line, almost always manned, but will spit out any open return I use to then be checked separately - the staff never check (I've tested, ensuring I have a valid ticket on me but showing them the "wrong" one, just to...

How to improve and increase capacity of the West Coastway line, including merging merging Sholing & Woolston stations?

You'd end up with more people cramming on to GWRs Portsmouth-Cardiff services, which certainly isn't ideal

    Great Northern Fleet Tender

Yes that's true. I'm sure it'll confuse some pax with different colour schemes though!

Southern timetable changes consultation Coastway West

Better connectivity across the Coastway, and with a same-platform interchange at Barnham for Gatwick/London. Imo it's a win
