    Maternity in training

Well you'd think, yes. They should tell their line manager as soon as they're through that uncertain phase. My point is that no manager will know you're pregnant until the bump shows so you could technically get away with hiding it, even if that's against policy. I wouldn't recommend that though.

    Maternity in training

No one is forced to declare they're pregnant, they're entitled to hide it as long as they can. Most company policies have a limit of 3 months notice to prepare maternity leave and mat pay, which brings the individual up to a 6 month limit of being pregnant on the job. Re: Liability - If a...

    Maternity in training

For safety reasons no TOC would want a pregnant individual to operate trains. Liability for anything that could go wrong could potentially sit with the company. I'd recommend making the most out of admin support for the duration of pregnancy, it's good experience which could become worthwhile...

Chiltern Railways - Apprentice Train Drivers - Multiple Locations (26/01/23)

When I carried out interviews there we prioritised those within the 45min commute, maybe considering an hour. I wouldn't want to disappoint but a promise to move once successful doesn't count. I've whitnessed people continuing long commutes after making a relocation pledge.

Eurostar - Qualified Train Drivers (16/01/23)

Thanks for that. I applied 7th July but didn't get a knock back until 12th August. I couldn't tick the B1 box unfortunately so had it coming.

Eurostar - Qualified Train Drivers (16/01/23)

Bonjour! Thanks to those asking good questions, I've been lurking in the forum appreciating the input. For those who are active and were successful in the last intake, how long after the advert expiring did you get a call for interview/assessment? I'm in that old predicament where I have two...

    Virgin trains west coast recruitment

My TOC is atrocious. The way it treats some of the drivers is shocking. Knackered stock, disorganised control, shabby uniform which takes an age to get updated. Regardless of the fact we're also one of the lowest paid drivers in the nation now.. There's more than pay that pulls me towards the...

    International Train Driver - Eurostar

Yeah... i'd hate to go up and down the same route each day  It's interesting how there is a lack of presence of Eurostar drivers on this forum. Maybe they're out there having a great time! I can see how plenty of us would prefer the good old Victorian network that slows us down, breaks...

    Virgin East Coast

So come Sunday East coast is officially re-privatise with plans for new trains, new routes, and station upgrades. I'm wondering with this this take over, surely there will be a requirement for more drivers? I'm qualified and interested. Anyone internal know if there is likely to be any...

    Eurostar Drivers

Thanks Flash! I received an email from them today responding to my enquiries. They said the same things as you but emphasised a lot on customer service (something that doesn't really exist where I currently am). Do drivers get to swap their nights for earlies, lates etc? And what benefits...

    Eurostar Drivers

Are there any Eurostar drivers on here who could give any information on the working patterns and diagrams? It seems that they'll be expanding services over the next few years and I'm wondering what sort of distance drivers are expected to cover. I am a qualified driver, but only with...

    LOROL work week example

I was going to start a new thread but it's keeping it relevant. Chingford is going to LOROL and I was wondering what sort of changes the drivers should expect? We currently work a 4 day, 35 hour week (Sundays optional) No sign on before 5am. Jobs vary between 5 -10 headcodes, but we worry this...

ga - trainee train driver vacancy (wagn)

I'm pretty sure west anglia train their drivers on the simulator in Stratford before taking them out in the real world. Like Dave says, they don't do the long-winded depot driver to mainline thing.
