Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

The 756s rarely do the Gloucester trips. Those are/were 197s more recently. The 756s would go to Swindon 1709975596 The bulk of the fleet are parked up at Barry whilst awaiting entry into traffic although they get swapped around There are usually 4 or 5 of them at Canton.

I thought about doing that after work but the rain got the better of me. Might wait 'til June

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

I noticed security on my dad's video. Did you get any grief for taking photos. I'd read either here or somewhere else that others had grief at Quakers Yard I think

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

You're correct on both counts. If they're anything like the 231s, they'll only start driver training once the Swindon runs are nearly complete.

TfW class 398 Stadler Citylink tram trains

No tram, just the 20s and wagons going back to KN

Where have you been in the world?

I've only had a few brief trips outside of the UK as I'm not a fan of flying and only one of those was railway related. France Belgium (sort of) Germany Denmark Sweden First trip abroad was on one of HRT's Three Capitals railtours back in the late 90s. Did Waterloo to Paris Gare Du Nord then...

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

They seem to be working really well. There have been faults but nothing too major I believe....the usual new train niggles. They certainly seem reliable. I love them! I was talking to a chap from TfW before Christmas and he thinks they are regretting not going with a full Stadler fleet I think...

Routes you'd love to see in Train Simulator Classic/Train Sim World

I'd quite like the Severn Valley Railway with a variety of their heritage diesel fleet but I feel it could get a bit boring sitting at 25mph. The WSR gets a bit long winded at times. As mentioned previously, I'd like to the South Wales Valleys with the likes of Pacers and Sprinters. If there...

Once all the mileage accumulation has finished....... station wise, probably Severn Tunnel Jcn once the 231s finally go onto the Gloucester services

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

I think they need to do a certain amount of mileage accumulation first, hence all the runs to Swindon. It was 6 months between 231007 being delivered and entering service (that one being the first to enter service). 001 was around 9 months. I've heard that the 231s could go mainline in...

Trivia: Whats the furthest an un-rebuilt class 73 has made it off the southern?

In the late 90s/early 00s, they regularly came to Cardiff for tyre turning. I'm pretty sure they were always sent along with something else though

Railtours running on the main line with or without a diesel at the back?

We haven't had a move with a light loco around the Maindee triangle for quite some time....... certainly not since COVID times

Railtours running on the main line with or without a diesel at the back?

S Often they are there for insurance purposes. Sometimes they are there to provide power for heating but the they are often there to assist with shunt moves at the final destination. For example, all steam tours that come to Cardiff turn on the Maindee triangle at Newport en route as it saves...

    Shred`s UK trips.

Great trip report. I clocked you in the cafe whilst I was waiting for my lunch It's a great little line, especially when it's a gala as there's always something going on. As with many places, we've lost quite a few photo spots to vegetation over the years. At least the veg from the usual bank...

105 & 104 were out together today so I'd expect they were the ones you saw as they tend to stay paired up for the week

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

The 756s are still undergoing mileage accumulation so I can't see them being in traffic for a while.
