    Your favourite-sounding loco(s)/multiple units(s)?

The GWR 3800s sound amazing at full bark, as do the becoppered Castles. I find Caprotti 5 73129 to be pretty hellfire, too. On the diesel side of things: 20s, 24s, 25s, 26s, 27s, 31s, 33s, 37s, 40s, 43s (HST P/Cs not Warships), 68s. I would say that overall I probably love 40s more than any...

    Incident at Wandsworth Common 07/08/16

Not doubting what you say, but is there any record of this ever happening? The Roald Dahl book is amazing, I've got it somewhere. Agree that it should be reinstated.

    Incident at Wandsworth Common 07/08/16

I was out on 60103 on Sunday. There were announcements made to ask people not to windowhang as NR says it is 'unacceptable'. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the end of it on the main line. As for myself, main line I only generally stick an eye out, if that makes sense. Sometimes lean out...

TOPS Requests (including headcodes, allocations, traction, etc) [Instructions in Post 2]

One doesn't always think to do these things given certain situations. Hence my posting in this thread. You understand that, surely.

TOPS Requests (including headcodes, allocations, traction, etc) [Instructions in Post 2]

Well it was definitely a 155, I was on the thing. Odd! Perhaps it was a last minute change at NH or something. The 142 on last night's 2M76 would also be lovely if anyone could get that, please!

TOPS Requests (including headcodes, allocations, traction, etc) [Instructions in Post 2]

Can anyone tell me what 155 ran 2E69, the 22:26 MCV to LDS on the night of the 7th of January?

    Northern Rostering

Hi guys, Do tell me off if this is the wrong section for such a question, but I am undertaking to travel on every Northern Class 142 (for obvious reasons, though being mad helps) and every Northern Class 158 (because I love 'em). Is there a way of finding out which particular class of DMU...

Should passengers be allowed to sit in 1st class when standard class seating runs out

I don't think there should even be 'First Class'. However, yes, particularly if it creates a hazard, which it certainly has before on certain TPE trains I've been lumbered with.

If you could travel back in time, what service would you like to travel on?

I'd want to see the Oldham Loop in steam days - but of late, the one thing I want to see more than anything else is the days of sectorisation, when I was growing up. I just want a return to that innocence, I guess, surrounded by Regional Railways, Metrotrain, RF two-tone grey etc.

Your very first rail journey with parents

I don't remember it. It'll have been a bog standard CAS-MCV affair. I'm told we caught the train to BPN and back once, and I was given biscuits by some very pleasant football fans. Wonder if that was a Reggie Rail 37...

    BR Blue in the 1960s

Was that the Hull Trains set? I know Chiltern operate out of Marylebone and they use (used?) Mark 3 stock in blue. The Hull Trains DVT looked fabulous in blue.

    London - Sheffield HSTs?

    rail regrets

Magnificent. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Yep, I never had the chance to ride behind one. Deep, deep regret.

    West Coast Diversions

Simple question, really. Was it ever seen that a Class 37, 40, or suchlike, dragged a Class 86 on a diversion when the sparkies wore their Electric Blue livery?

    BR Blue in the 1960s

Lovely information! I do like the motley collection of liveries that could be seen...

    rail regrets

Well that's it, really. It's all subjective. What concerns me is that one day we'll realise how good we have it right now - locos knocking around, HSTs, diesel traction, BR stock (second gen units for instance), 91s, DRS traction... one day it'll all be gone. I dare say that one day we'll...

    rail regrets

100% agreed. For my twelfth birthday we went to London - 87, DVT, and Mk3a stock. Marvelous. Love the original Virgin livery. Didn't quite understand the significance back then. We had a Pendo back - while I think they're excellent, it was a damn sight more cramped.

What's your favourite TOC and why?

Ah, thank-you! Yeah, that sounds likely to be honest! Interesting. The ticket definitely said £210 on it, and I didn't go via London! I still have it somewhere, I think - it definitely had something noted on it which could explain all this. I'll see if it's around... --- old post above...

    BR Blue in the 1960s

Some brilliant information and links posted in here, thank-you so much guys! It's a fair bet A4s weren't seen with anything more blue than the occasional B/G coach in the very early days of such liveries then. Thank-you once again.
