Does anyone know the times for Mallard's journey to Grantham for display on the weekend of 7/8 September?

EMT using Class 37 on Crewe to Derby trains 25 August

Based on the the abuse dished out to to ordinary fare paying customers by some of the cranks on board, and the formal complaint to EMT likely to follow, unlikely.

    Virgin Reverse Formation

Virgin Trains can be turned when using alternative routes to access depots in Birmingham and Glasgow.

Did the England football team get a stop order on a train?

Probably not a penalty, but an access fee of some description. And would have been specially platformed at Euston to allow a coach to pull up alongside the train.

Did the England football team get a stop order on a train?

Virgin probably have to pay the normal stop order penalty, a couple of hundred pounds I think, but more than offset by extra couple of thousand in revenue. On Saturday afternoon, Man United had a block booking from Stockport on a normal service when travelling to London for the Charity...

    Stoke on Trent to Kidsgrove

Has been a long time I believe since any passenger services operated through Stoke without calling. Was removed during the extension of the platform for 11 car Pendos I believe.

First win Intercity West Coast franchise

In terms of the West Coast services, Directly Operated Railways take over in December. In terms of the franchise the shortlisted bidders will be asked to submit fresh bids after the inquiries, would imagine it would be at least 12 months before the DfT were in a position to award a new franchise.

Class 92 on B/Stoke to Weymouth line

Most freight south of Basingstoke goes to Southampton where I believe none of the yards are electrified.

First win Intercity West Coast franchise

The Pendolinos retain their original paintwork as do the Voyagers.

    New Midland Mainline Stock?

Put simply InterCity stock is capable of 125mph, ie HSTs, 91/Mk4s, 180s, 220s, 221s, 222s & 390s. Whether diesel, electric, bi-mode, head end powered or under floor powered is irrelevant. MML's 170s were never intended to be InterCity stock, they just took over the running of some all stops...

    Private services before privatisation?

The Stagecoach venture was not financially successful and ceased after about 12 months. According to Michael Harris' book on Mark 2s, the carriages used were Mk2Ds 6201, 6202, 6210, 6224, 6228 and 6232. They were repainted into InterCity livery in November 1992 but never used again.

    FGW 57's.

Maybe 57309 was brought over last week to overcome this? http://www.flickr.com/photos/elettra1143/7964511656/in/photostream/

    GX North of East Croydon?

Because the route via Clapham Junction has higher speeds hence the time difference mentioned above. Also would have to cross about 4 lines to get from platform 2 at Battersea Park to plaforms 13/14 at Victoria as well as negotiating junctions at South Norwood and Herne Hill.
  17. D

    FGW 57's.

Even with the reduced fleet there are usually a few spare Virgin 57/3s each day. And depending on the time of year most of Network Rail's are available.

Hourly Train From Aberdeen to Newcastle

At the moment neither East Coast or ScotRail have enough spare stock. EC's 4 and XC's 1 in each direction are probably enough. Yes the other southbound services require a 30 minute wait in Edinburgh, but after taking into account that a 170 can only do 100mph, the time saving would be minimal.

    New Midland Mainline Stock?

The 156s are about to be overhauled and made DDA compliant, so will be with Greater Anglia for some time yet.

    MKC-Croydon service

Try all of them, only platform 2 at Kensington Olympia is capable of handling 8 carriages. While the services are definitely busy south of Shepherds Bush, are they that busy north of?
