    TFW Trainee Conductor Talent Pool

Hi mate, I was informed via email around two weeks after my interview. Said I was successful and talent pool details. Depends I think how quickly interviewers return the paperwork to the recruitment people which may explain why timescales differ. Good luck!

    TfW Trainee Conductor

Did they confirm the location, times etc of the training course with you? I’m quite concerned now.

    TfW Trainee Conductor

I didn’t get an offer letter. I was just sent the contract and a copy of the job description to sign which they acknowledged the receipt of. Hmm think I’ll have to get in touch with them.

    TfW Trainee Conductor

I sent my contract off signed and sealed for the 9th Jan course. I haven’t heard anything since in terms of course location or any details with ordering a uniform. Starting to wonder if things are inconsistent or I’ve been forgotten! :|

    The medical assessment

Passed my conductor medical yesterday. Pretty chilled process: General health questionnaire (any joint pains, mobility issues, medications etc) Blood pressure check Basic eye test Colourblindness test Hearing test Alcohol breathalyser and urine drug test. Found out straight away I’d passed. I...

What is a management contract and how is it different from normal rail franchises & the OLR

Wonder what’s happening in terms of the Wales & Borders franchise as I assume with it being devolved to the Welsh Government a separate decision will need to be made in terms of support / funding for Keolis Amey?

New MD at Northern (not Arriva) announced

I was under the impression that most MDs / CEOs went back to the parent company at the end of a franchise to either take over or start again on another franchise within a group?

    Welsh fleet deployment programme rationalised

Ahh thanks for the insight! It was just seeing a video of a 6-car Wales and Borders 158 on YouTube back in 2000, made me think.

    Welsh fleet deployment programme rationalised

I’d be keen to see them keep the 158s, dunno if they have clearance for the Heart of Wales? If the Mk4s are proving problematic for the Marches, would there be some 185s coming free from TPE at some point? Their amount of power would be great for the route profile of the Marches and could still...

Cambrian Storm Damage / Conwy Valley Flooding 02/20

Services look like they’re due to restart gradually on the Cambrian Coast tomorrow. 158837 arrived at Pwllheli this evening having undertaken a test trip from Machynlleth.

Cambrian Storm Damage / Conwy Valley Flooding 02/20

Every station in Wales has a PIS which forms part of making stations more accessible for people with a visual or hearing impairment hence why they’re also part of PRM mod specs on trains. Playing the carbon card could be seen as a weak argument seeing as the PIS have LED displays which are very...

Cambrian Storm Damage / Conwy Valley Flooding 02/20

In terms of the Cambrian, taking into accounts many vulnerable coastal parts, in fairness, it’s been relatively hassle free other than the odd occasion over the last 30 years.

Cambrian Storm Damage / Conwy Valley Flooding 02/20

The car was on the main road heading towards Harlech, not far from the station. It was a red Jag, had to be left overnight until the water had receded.

Cambrian Storm Damage / Conwy Valley Flooding 02/20

There’s apparently a test train to be run from Machynlleth to Pwllheli this evening. This is shown on Real Time Trains. Not sure how it’s going to get to Pwllheli with the debris at Afonwen. It’s reported that there are two 158s in Pwllheli. Wonder what they’ll do with those if the damage is bad...

And Another One In Trouble - TfW

Would be interesting to know what the sample split was in terms of North, Mid and South because from reading that article, the company could be mistaken for Transport for South Wales!
