    Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Bus News

The megabusplus service (coach connecting into train) never restarted, but EMR continued to supply a number of megatrain only tickets for journeys on the London to Sheffield/Nottingham route until around September last year. East Mids Parkway and Chesterfield dropped off the destinations list...

Diamond Bus East Midlands (was Midland Classic of Burton)

If the 125 timetable remains as current using one vehicle for the whole day, the bus runs on and off a short journey at Coalville. Again relatively convenient for Midland Classic to access.

    Fares data workshop

I'd also be interested in this. Northern or Midland venues are preferred, but I could get South if the dates fall right.

Trivia: Stations (with 3+ platforms) where you have to leave the station to change platforms.

You may well be right. The last time I was there was during its rebuilding (2010?) so maybe there was a temporary route in place that I'm thinking of.

Trivia: Stations (with 3+ platforms) where you have to leave the station to change platforms.

Wembley Central would be a good shout. The main entrance and ticket hall only gives access to Platforms 1-3 (Overground and Bakerloo 1/2, 3 is on the fast line so usually gated off). There are separate entrances further along the street for platforms 4/5 and platform 6 for the LNW and Southern...

Old bus depot in Ibstock, Leicestershire?

Going by the address, it would appear to have been the base for Countryman Coaches. The company was dissolved and surrendered their operator licence last year, but I know not much else other than that.

    Nottingham 'Bus War'

    Birkenhead Docks Branch

That looks like the cutting through the town centre, so the photo was likely taken from Adelphi Street bridge. Docks traffic finished in 1993, but wouldn't be surprised if a tour got it in shortly afterwards! It's been overgrown for as long as I can remember (lived around there 91-08, and still...

    Jurassic Mule 2017

The service is registered as an excursion/tour, so is exempted from PSVAR. Also, as a result of that, they won't be able to claim any concessionary travel rebates or sell point-to-point tickets like a normal stopping service.

    George Gawith Taxis

Gawith's are a taxi sales and parts supplier based on Kensington, L7. They also have a fleet of hackney carriages on the road. VDSA Operator Search shows that the firm have a 3 vehicle Standard National licence based at the Kensington address. Looks like they're having a foray into contract bus...

    Liverpool Central Lewis's exit

I seem to recall that the full width sliding gate was removed during the station refurbishment and replaced with a standard size door and panelling. The former Mersey Bookstall kiosk opposite was also panelled out at the same time.

    Service bus myths...

Myth TGX-150: All ENCTS passes must be placed face down on the card reader, as the machine scans the photo and compares it to the passenger's face to determine validity.

    Bylaws for Busses/trams?

Trent - and soon NCT - use Init E-vend machines. Init are a German firm, but have an office in Nottingham. The previous machine model used a proprietary card system. The newer, touch-screen version of the machines that have been introduced recently by Trent are ITSO certified.
