Standing passengers on registered express services

I’ve often seen Stagecoach East Scotland vehicles displaying ‘Bus Full’ on their Edinburgh express services where a bus is used in lieu of a coach where every seat is occupied but no one is standing. Presumably company policy relating to these services using a motorway? Often wondered this.

Refusal to give up space for wheelchair

As others have said, the driver is required to request that the pushchair be folded down to allow the wheelchair user to board, however we have no power to remove them if they refuse. It’s a sad state of affairs. I do wish people would be a bit more sensible when buying buggies if they plan to...

    Lothian group (Network/Route Speculation)

The bus stop is constantly blocked by parked cars. Since West Lothian Council does not have parking enforcement, people will continue to park there rendering it unsuitable as a bus terminus.

    Lothian group (Network/Route Speculation)

Thanks for the feedback @SoloSR334022. My main priorities with these were: 1. Restoring the 15 minute frequency Livi-Edinburgh. 2. Direct service from Armadale to Livingston. 3. Direct service from Fauldhouse to Bathgate. 4. Increase to 2 buses per hour between Broxburn and Livingston. 5...

    Lothian group (Network/Route Speculation)

Here’s my thoughts on what could potentially be done with the Lothian Country network. X18 no change to route. Frequency increased to every 20 minutes. X27 no change to route. Frequency increased to every 30 minutes. X28 no change to route. Frequency increased to every 30 minutes. X40 no change...

    Lothian group (Network/Route Speculation)

I honestly can’t see there being sufficient demand to justify a direct service from Ratho to the city centre which, as mentioned by others, will duplicate either the X27/X28 or the X18 for the vast majority of its length. I find it odd that it’s been included in the council proposals rather than...

I can see the 72 increasing to half hourly also, however from my experience the Broxburn to Kirkliston section is very quiet so probably won’t warrant an increase. Perhaps every second bus could terminate at East Mains in Broxburn giving a half hourly service Broxburn to Fauldhouse?

Incredible to think what we once had compared to the bare bones network now.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

The X27/X28 is in dire need of going back to the previous joint 15 minute frequency in my opinion. That should be a priority in the new year before any consideration is given to enhancements to the recently launched services.

McGill's Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and Eastern Scottish)

There was me thinking the purpose of a bus route was the conveyance of passengers from one place to another when in actual fact it is to make it as interesting as possible in order to create content for a YouTube channel. Who knew?

What was your favourite bus type as a kid?

Growing up in Jarrow, my childhood favourite was the Mk2 Leyland Nationals operated by VFM Buses. Also the weird and wonderful assortment of vehicles operated by OK Travel, although I’d struggle to name any of them. Trips down to Seaburn were always a delight as you never knew what might turn up...

    Scottish Citylink

Very interesting allocation for a local service, thanks for posting. On a separate note, what is the actual routing when it gets to Whitburn cross in terms of it turning round to be facing the right direction for the return journey? The only way I can think is for it to loop round via the...

Anyone know what vehicle is being used on the 23?

In a word, yes. They can’t refuse anyone travel just on the basis of them travelling to a destination where there is an alternative, more frequent destination, even if it means leaving people behind.

Lots of students use the X27/X28 from the accommodation at fountain park to Sighthill so I’d say it needs to still go along this section of the West Approach Road at least.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Who is actually responsible for these screens? Reason I ask is because some identical ones have appeared in Livingston at both the centre and St John’s Hospital. Unhelpful, the destination of the X40 is shown as ‘Edinburgh’. Obviously people going home from a day’s shopping assume that this...

I seem to recall even the longer streetlites getting into some difficulty on the 68 when First began operating it.

Should I submit a praise for this bus driver?

Depends on the operator to be honest. I think with it being a local independent then I’d say they’re unlikely to get into any bother if you write in. I’ve done this very thing before, however as I work for a large operator where you have to ‘cover your arse’ for everything, I’ve always asked...

    Independent Operators in the Lothians

I spotted the VW thing as well. It quite frequently appears on the service 6. Also, SD Travel had a Ford Transit out on the 16.
